Recently, nursing and therapy team members took part in a Code Blue drill focused on administering naloxone (Narcan) nasal spray. The drill was held in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, which is observed annually on August 31.

This day encourages us to increase our understanding of overdose, reduce the stigma surrounding drug-related deaths, and promote prevention efforts. One powerful way to help save lives is by learning how to administer Narcan, a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

We are pleased to report that our practice dummy made a full recovery and, most importantly, all participants walked away with valuable training and confidence in their response skills!

Congratulations to Hope, our August 2025 Rookie of the Month! “Hope is such a wonderful addition to the team. She is a hard worker with confidence that doesn't go unnoticed. I have received many comments from coworkers that they are happy to have her here! She has jumped in with both feet since her arrival and I look forward to seeing what she accomplishes!” shared Nurse Case Manager Ashley Cetnar.

Hope responded, “I have greatly enjoyed my first couple of months working at Dove Healthcare – South Eau Claire. I learned about Dove Healthcare through my nursing clinical last semester and had the smoothest transition into a CNA position that I could have hoped for. All of the team members that I trained with, and have now worked with, have been so kind, helpful, and quick to answer any questions that I have. They also collectively treat each of the residents here at Dove Healthcare – South Eau Claire with the greatest amount of respect, which has made it beyond easy to follow in their footsteps and keep our care consistent for the residents.”

We made some new friends in the form of miniature horses! Oreo and Pepe from Holly's Place Equestrian Center trotted in for a visit last week. We'll be visiting the farm ourselves at the end of the month, so we got a proper introduction to a couple of the horses before the big outing! We're so glad to be able to interact with the horses in this way.

Congratulations to Briahnna, our August 2025 Employee of the Month! “There are so many wonderful things I can say about Briahnna, how do I choose just a few?! She is such a great asset to our Dove Healthcare family. Briahnna is reliable and a team player-willing to help out wherever she is needed. One of my most favorite things about her, though, is that she is very attentive and thoughtful to the residents' needs-the residents definitely notice it as well! I've enjoyed watching her grow more confident in her role since she first started. She is very deserving of the title, Employee of the Month. Thanks for all of your hard work and for being such a key part of the team, Briahnna,” shared Nurse Case Manager Reanna Ellenbecker.

Briahnna responded, “Even though my time here at Dove Healthcare – South Eau Claire hasn’t been the longest and this has been my first experience working as a CNA, I recognize it as one of my favorite places to be. I feel like there is a sense of belonging between staff and residents, and even the most challenging shifts are made better by the people that I work alongside. I am so happy that I can make a difference here for the building itself and the residents I see most every day. It makes me happy to call this place my job and to show up where I am needed. I feel that I have improved so much since being here because of the constant encouragement and kindness, and I am always excited to give that back to this community of care.”

We are happy to introduce you to Dove Healthcare’s new Vice President of Operations, Jennifer Burklund!

A 2010 graduate of the health care administration program at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Jennifer comes to us with over 15 years of long-term care experience. She has spent the majority of her career in Wisconsin nursing homes in a variety of roles; most recently, regional operations support.

Jennifer shared, “I am privileged to lead the team at Dove Healthcare. My priority is to ensure those we serve receive the highest standard of care, and our team feels valued, supported and is set up for success."

Jennifer grew up in New Auburn and lives in Bloomer with her daughter and son. She enjoys spending time with her family, staying active outdoors, travelling with her significant other, Matt, and relaxing on the lake.

Emily is responsible for overall performance and operations, which includes supervising the assisted living directors and assisted living nurse consultants. Our assisted living locations will benefit greatly from an enhanced, collaborative focus on developing goals, implementing strategy, identifying efficiencies, and leveraging resources

Dove Healthcare has experienced great success over the years with our HomeGROWN approach: recognizing passion, dedication, and capabilities in team members and then supporting them with growth as opportunity arises.
