I hear this all the time when people learn I’m a medical thermographer! So here’s a quick, simple explanation — and why it matters for your health. 💗
Thermography is a safe, non-invasive, radiation-free screening that uses infrared imaging to look at temperature patterns on the skin. These patterns can reflect changes in physiology like inflammation, vascular activity, lymphatic congestion, and hormonal influences.
👉 Important: Thermography does not diagnose cancer or show structural changes (like lumps or tumors). Instead, it offers valuable insight into how your body is functioning — making it a powerful adjunct to mammograms, physical exams, and self-breast exams.

Preparing for a scan:
Avoid chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, or heavy sun exposure for 3 days prior.
On the day of your scan, avoid deodorant, lotions, shaving, and strenuous exercise.
(Hormonal changes matter too — wait 3 months after breastfeeding, fertility treatments, or breast surgery.)
Every woman’s thermogram is unique — like a thumbprint.
That’s why new patients have a follow-up scan in 3 months to establish a baseline. After that, annual scans are typically recommended.
