As a personal coach, the question often comes up: what is the difference between coaching and counseling?
And so here is the essential difference as I practice it:

🌿Coaching is guided by goals, usually measurable.

🌿Counseling can often be goal directed also but it's usually a process of uncovering what lies between us and the truth, however we understand that for ourselves, and in that process we may begin to notice changes in our lives.

Now, in coaching , when pursuing a measurable goal (whether that be a self-development, health, or external attainment goal), some of the emotions, beliefs and challenges that would be uncovered in counseling will also come up. (Sorry, it’s true, AFGO - another f& #%ing growth opportunity)!

….The difference in coaching is we don't get embroiled in that material - but we don't ignore it either!

The fuel that we need to move forward in life and grow often lies in our emotions and in our shadow side ☀️🌗

It's the grit, but it's also the source of enthusiasm for change and growth.

And bottom line of both coaching and counseling is a commitment to integrity and personal authenticity.

So maybe you have some goals you've had for a while and while they feel important to you, you can't really see that there's any measurable movement towards them.

First of all, that doesn't mean you're not moving towards them because no action or experience is ever lost, but serves as the foundation for the next action as we continually strive to align what we do with what's truly important to us.

Should you work with me? Only you know the answer to that but here are some of the things that would certainly get me fired up to work on with you:

[ ] There’s a relationship you'd like to mend.
[ ] There’s a career goal that you've secretly dreamed of exploring.
[ ] There’s a creative itch you wish you had the courage to pursue.

[ ] There’s an intuition that never seems to leave the back of your mind.

✨These are the kinds of things people come to coaching for ✨

And by the way, it’s often misconstrued that a coach will tell you WHAT TO DO but in fact, it's a process of uncovering where YOU desire change and what that change looks and feels like - and what could possibly feel better than to be actively engaged in that pursuit! 🎉♥️...connected to what truly matters to you, all the time.

I ran marathons during my thirties and forties and I ran them pretty fast too, (eventually) and one of the things I learned from those LONG-distance running years was the importance of STARTING, and sometimes how hard that can be.

🦶The power of the first step out the door cannot be underestimated because all achievements come from that single first step.

SO, In honor of the courage it takes and the hope that lies within that first step out the door towards a distant and lofty goal, I am offering my four coaching spaces this week at half their normal cost.

It feels good to me to remove barriers that might lie between you and going for the thing that you want to go for. I would love to see you achieve that - that's my job as your coach - if you take that first step.

As a personal aside I have no regrets in my 60+ years that come from taking a step towards what I felt was right for me, for what I felt I was meant to do.
And on the other side of that coin, most of the regrets I have (which are very few) come from not acting in alignment with what I truly wanted, not believing in myself or being out of integrity with myself.

So does one coaching session do it?

Well, like I said, it’s a very important first step, but to achieve anything of value it usually takes focused and aligned action.
Of course there are those pivotal moments in life where we're at the right place at the right time and something just clicks into place, but again, in the final analysis, you have to put yourself in THAT place at THAT time.

So here we are 🌿✨

It's my goal that you find tremendous value from our time together and that I have the pleasure and honor to support you in making the changes in your life that you want.

🌿In time, truth always wins 🌿

The body gently knocks on the door of our awareness - maybe a spot that always seems tight these days, or some pain if we do too much, or too little.

In my own self-care and in the work I do with clients, a big part of being healthy is simply noticing, but that in itself is not enough.

Next, we need to accept things as they are.
We do this in order to not make things worse for ourselves and also so we can make a realistic plan for addressing what has come to our attention.

From there we can become actively engaged in the process of living as well as we can.

I have appointment spaces this week on Tuesday 11:15 and 12:30. On Wednesday I have available appointments at 12:00 and 1:15

It always feels good when we drop into the body and take care of it's "truths" .

I’m loving the peace and quiet of my new location at Chippewa Valley therapeutic massage.
And with change comes new awareness and lately, I’ve been thinking of my work in this way:

With manual therapy I’m mostly encouraging conscious awareness of what’s already occurring in the body so my client can then take that awareness and make conscious choices. Add to this the incredible therapeutic value of allowing the nervous system to wind down.
