🚀 The Power of Intermittent Fasting: My Midlife Hormone & Health Journey

Have you ever wondered what happens to your body when you fast for 16 hours?

When I first learned about intermittent fasting during my Functional Medicine Health Coach certification, I was blown away by how much it aligned with what I was experiencing as a woman in midlife—spiking blood sugar, stubborn weight gain, sluggish metabolism, brain fog, digestive issues, low energy, and inflammation.

I knew something had to change.

💡 Here’s what I discovered about fasting:
✔️ 0–4 Hours Post-Meal: Insulin levels rise, the body absorbs nutrients, and repairs tissues. But if we eat too frequently, insulin stays high, leading to hormonal imbalances, stress, and belly fat.
✔️ 14–16 Hours of Fasting: The body shifts from using incoming food for energy to burning stored fat for fuel. This is the sweet spot for weight management, metabolic health, and hormone balance.
✔️ Beyond 16 Hours: The magic of autophagy kicks in—cellular cleanup, inflammation reduction, and improved brain function.

🔥 What changed for me?
After making fasting a regular part of my routine, I noticed:
✅ More energy throughout the day
✅ Better digestion and gut health
✅ Mental clarity—bye-bye brain fog!
✅ Balanced hormones and reduced cravings
✅ Easier fat loss and improved metabolism

🙋‍♀️ One of the most common questions I get: Will I lose weight if I fast for 16 hours every day?
👉 Answer: While fasting helps regulate insulin and burn fat, pairing it with whole, nutrient-dense foods, balanced macros, and lifestyle changes is key to long-term success!

✨ If you’ve been struggling with midlife hormone shifts, inflammation, or metabolism issues, fasting might be the missing piece of the puzzle.

Are you ready to embrace the power of fasting and take control of your health? Drop a 🔥 in the comments if you want to learn more!

Knowledge is Power! Would love to see more people learning & sharing. Maybe it's time to push for change...
Here are some facts from a study:
A single cup of Kool-Aid Burst Cherry contains 50 mg of dyes—or nearly twice the amount (26 mg
or less) demonstrated in studies to trigger behavioral reactions in some children;
 A 16 ounce bottle of Sunny D Orange Strawberry contains nearly 40 mg of dyes;
 A mere two tablespoons of Pillsbury Confetti Funfetti Chocolate Fudge Frosting contains a
shocking 41.5 mg of dyes;
 A single cup of Hawaiian Punch (14.1 mg) plus 4 pieces of Twizzlers (15.4 mg) or a Red, White and
Blue Popsicle (21.6 mg) would bring a child over the 26 mg-level used in many studies; and
 Some exposures specifically impact susceptible children. Artificial dyes top the list of inactive
ingredients in two versions of Ritalin, a drug frequently prescribed for children with attention
deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
