IN LOVING MEMORY

William Scott Saxon, known to many as Scotty, was born on July 4, 1970, in Caldwell County, Kentucky, and he passed away on April 23, 2026, at Baptist Health in Paducah.

He lived a life marked by kindness, steady purpose, and a spirit that encouraged others to keep going, keep believing, and keep showing up with heart. Scott’s journey on this earth was one of faith, family, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple blessings that make life meaningful.

Scotty devoted much of his working life to serving others as an Electrical Lineman for Kentucky Utilities. He understood the value of showing up when the work was difficult, when the weather was harsh, and when the task required strength, patience, and commitment. He carried himself with the quiet confidence of a man who knew that honest labor matters and that doing your best is a form of character. His work reflected the same dependable nature that guided every part of his life.

Above all else, Scotty was a family man. He shared 28 years of marriage with his wife, Monica McLeod Saxon, and together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and enduring partnership. He was a proud father to Jasmine Matchen of Eddyville, Kentucky, Mason Saxon and his fiancée, Ashtin of Eddyville, and Ethan Saxon of Nashville, Tennessee. He was also a devoted grandfather to Ivy Grace Saxon, whose presence brought him joy and pride. Scott’s love extended to his sister, Jill Spencer and her husband Mike of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, as well as to his nephew, Jonah Allen, and his niece, Shelby Spencer. All of his family was a central part of his life, and he gave them the gift of his steady presence, his encouragement, and his kind heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl "Bill" Saxon and Phyllis Stinnett Saxon.

Scotty lived with a strong faith that shaped the way he saw the world and the way he treated people. He was a member of Covenant Community Church of Madisonville, where his belief in God was not just spoken, but lived out through his actions, his humility, and his compassion. He also shared his musical gifts as a bass player in the church band, adding his talent to worship and helping lift the hearts of others. His faith was not passive. It was active, resilient, and deeply woven into the man he was.

He was also a man who knew how to enjoy life and appreciate God’s creation. Scotty was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors, and he found peace in fishing, golf, and time spent outside. He invested time with younger men, teaching them to hunt, fish, and how to enjoy the great outdoors, while having fun. He was a craftsman at heart, someone who valued skill, patience, and the satisfaction of building and creating with his hands. He was a devoted UK basketball fan, and like so many things he loved, he followed the game with enthusiasm and loyalty. Whether he was in the woods, on the water, on the course, or in the company of family and friends, Scotty brought a genuine spirit that made others feel welcome.

Those who knew Scotty will remember him as kind, funny and the life of the party. Kindness was not something he reserved for special occasions. It was part of who he was. He had a way of making people feel seen, respected, and valued. He lived with a quiet strength that inspired others to be better, to love more deeply, and to hold fast to what matters most. His life reminds us that greatness is not always loud. Sometimes it is found in faithfulness, in generosity, in hard work, and in the way a person treats others every single day.

Scotty Saxon leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and steadfast devotion. His example calls us to live with purpose, to cherish our families, to honor our faith, and to move forward with courage. He will be remembered with gratitude, spoken of with love, and missed beyond measure.

IN LOVING MEMORY

John Michael Henderson, Sr. “Mike,” 75, of Eddyville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on April 1, 2026.

Mike was the youngest of four children born to the late Henry Willard Henderson and Anne Evelyn P’Poole Henderson. He was born on January 19, 1951, at Caldwell County War Memorial Hospital. His family still treasures his birth receipt, which showed he was delivered for the sum of $40.05, paid in cash - a story that always brought smiles and reflected simpler times.

Mike grew up on the Henderson family farm in Lyon County, in the area now known as Buena Vista Subdivision. Much of that family farmland is now inundated by Lake Barkley, making those memories of home even more special and treasured by those who knew the stories he loved to tell. He often shared memories from his childhood there, including how the family would keep chickens under the house and feed them through the floorboards. Those stories, told with Mike’s trademark humor and wit, were just part of what made him so unforgettable.

He graduated from Lyon County High School in 1969, where he was known to be a bit mischievous and full of spirit. Soon after graduation, he went to work for the railroad. Later, he returned home and married the love of his life, the late Brenda Marshall Henderson. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage and built a life rooted in love, family, faithfulness, and devotion.

Mike worked for the Laborers’ Union until the economy slowed in the early 1980s and many jobs were lost. He then began a career with the Kentucky Department of Corrections, where he faithfully served until retiring as a Sergeant. He was known as a hardworking man, dependable, steady, and deeply committed to providing for his family. He took pride in his work and in the life he built through perseverance and dedication.

In retirement, Mike found some of his greatest joy in helping care for his beloved grandchildren, Oli and Elizabeth Martin, who were truly the pride of his eye. He loved being present in their lives and cherished the time he spent with them. Family meant everything to Mike, and he treasured every moment with those he loved.

Mike will be remembered for his storytelling, his sense of humor, his mischievous spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. He was a man of strong roots, shaped by the land where he was raised, the work of his hands, and the people he loved most. His life was a reflection of loyalty, resilience, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Tina Henderson Martin of Fredonia, Kentucky; his son, John Michael Henderson, Jr. of Eddyville, Kentucky; his cherished grandchildren, Oli and Elizabeth Martin; his sister-in-law, Marsha McCalister Henderson; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda Marshall Henderson; his parents, Henry Willard Henderson and Anne Evelyn P’Poole Henderson; his brothers, Willard Wayne Henderson and William Henderson; his sister, Betty Henderson; and one nephew, Michael Wayne Henderson.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Blue Spring Church Cemetery with Ricky Conger officiating.

Though he has left this earthly home, the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely will remain with his family always.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Blue Spring Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Harvey Mitchell, 64 Merrick Road, Princeton, KY 42445.

IN LOVING MEMORY

James W. "Jim" Bundren, age 85, of Eddyville, passed away March 20, 2026 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Jim found his greatest peace outdoors, especially on and around Barkley Lake and in the woods near his home. There, he was most content-often operating a chainsaw or wood splitter, fully immersed in the work he loved. He never met a project he didn’t enjoy and took great pride in repairing or modifying anything that crossed his path, large or small. His property stands as a testament to his ingenuity, filled with items he built or shaped to his will over the past 63 years-lasting reminders for his children and grandchildren.

He found his deepest joy in teaching his sons and grandchildren-whether it was how to drive, weld, rebuild engines, identify trees, or simply how to be resourceful. Jim was widely regarded as the patriarch of his neighborhood, known as someone others could always turn to-for advice, firewood, or just the right tool. He never hesitated to lend a hand, always ready to help solve a problem or support someone in need.

An avid reader, Jim had a particular interest in World War II history. Born at the outset of that era, he often reflected on it as a time when good and evil seemed more clearly defined and our nation stood at its finest. At age 26, he was drafted into the Army. Though he had not sought military service, he served with distinction and was quickly promoted to Buck Sergeant during his first and only tour in Vietnam.

Jim Bundren was a man of deep conviction, guided throughout his life by a strong moral compass. He consistently chose what he believed was right over what was easy, regardless of popularity. A devoted and active member of the United Church of God, Jim lived his faith through service, kindness, and unwavering commitment.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jeanie Brown Bundren of Eddyville; two sons, James David (Whitney) Bundren of Newburgh, IN and John Tyler "J.T." (Prudence) Bundren of Sydney, Australia; one sister, Ruth Hancock of Indiana; two brothers, Ronald Bundren and Alan Bundren both of Illinois; four grandchildren, Carver Banks Bundren, James Keaton Bundren, Audrey Lorene Bundren and Atticus Fletcher Bundren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Ora Hancock Bundren; sister, Nancy Kid; brothers, Richard, David and Tom Bundren.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Lakeland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Lakeland Funeral Home. Burial will follow with military honors at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
