Not everything needs to be shared for healing to begin.

After discovering s*x addiction or p**n addiction, it’s normal to feel pressure to explain your story—but you don’t owe everyone access to your pain.

Choose safe people. Set wise boundaries. Protect your healing.

Marriage recovery takes time, and with the right support, posttraumatic growth is possible.

You don’t owe everyone your story.

After the discovery of s*x addiction or p**n addiction, it’s natural to feel pressure to explain what’s going on in your relationship. But healing from betrayal trauma requires safety—and that includes healthy boundaries.

Not everyone needs the details.
Not everyone has earned access to your story.

Protect your healing.
Protect your marriage recovery.

Because growth happens in safe spaces.

Curiosity can change everything.

Instead of asking “What’s wrong with me?” try asking:

“Why am I drawn to this?”

In recovery from s*x addiction or unwanted s*xual behaviors, curiosity opens the door to understanding the deeper stories, wounds, and needs beneath the behavior.

Shame keeps us stuck.
Curiosity helps us heal.

ICYMI: Running to Recovery: What Training for a Marathon Teaches Us About Healing

What does training for a marathon have to do with recovery?

More than you might think.

In this episode of the Faithful & True Podcast, Dr. Greg Miller and Jim Farm explore the powerful parallels between long-distance running and the journey of recovery. From starting where you are, to building strength over time, to leaning into community when you don’t feel motivated—recovery, like running, is not about perfection. It’s about commitment.

Our Story

Faithful & True, founded by Dr. Mark Laaser, M.Div, Ph.D. and Debbie Laaser, MA, LMFT, is a Christian counseling center specializing in treating men struggling with s*xual compulsivity or addiction, their wives, and their marriages.

Mark and Debbie’s private practice is founded on the transformation of their own story after the discovery of Mark’s addiction over 30 years ago. Through their own counseling journey, they have experienced God’s vision to heal and use a traumatic season of their lives to eventually teach, write, and counsel others to become the beloved people God calls them to be.

S*xual addiction and relational betrayal are the issues that bring clients to Faithful & True. Through individual counseling, counseling groups, and 3-day intensives for men, women, and couples, Faithful & True provides help for understanding root causes of behaviors, practical tools for changing them, and support for trauma and emotional pain.

Counselors at Faithful & True believe that the broader vision for healing is supporting God’s plan to take your suffering and make you “mature and complete” in becoming the best version of yourself. It is to change your character to become more Christ-like (Js. 1-2).
