Following the lunar calendar, May 5th is the official start of summer. That is a special date because there will be lots of excitement going on in the atmosphere at that time and the energy is going to have a major shift.

From this day, the sun will start getting stronger. The temperature will rise very rapidly, all the plants will grow very fast, and all of nature will come out for a universal dance.

The body is part of nature, so following the flow of nature is the core of the Chinese Five Elements philosophy.

To help keep yourself in harmony with that flow, start going to bed a little bit later and get up earlier so the Yang energy has time to release.

The Yang energy is getting stronger and stronger this time of year and the energy in the body tends to go out more. Sleep may not be deep because the Yang energy is so active and wants to go out all the time.

👉To balance that yang energy, deep breaths are very good. As often as you can, take long, gentle, deep breaths and keep a smile on your face. This helps to calm the anxiety.

👉Exercise more and drink plenty of fluids. However, try to avoid drinking anything very cold because that interrupts the movements of Yang energy. It is especially important not to drink anything cold after you exercise and work up a good sweat. If you drink something cold right away that energy gets trapped and interrupted which is not good for the internal organs.

👉Avoid being in wet clothes, especially after exercising. Take a shower, dry off and change clothes as soon as possible after you exercise. Do not lie down in wet clothes or in a wet or damp area because this time of year and throughout the summer the Yang energy always tries to release from the skin.

👉Starting May 5th, the heart energy is starting to take charge so keep an eye on your blood pressure. This is very important when the temperature is rising outside.

👉Sitting meditation helps to calm down the heart better. Doing SFQ active exercises are always good for you, but this time of year it is better to start doing more sitting meditation than other times of the year.

Every Thought, Every Breath, Every Action you take affects the vibration of your energy. You are transforming your energy without realizing it, without even thinking about.

Many people think of energy in a very limited way. They think of energy as being electricity or the gasoline that powers their car. Electricity and gasoline are indeed forms of energy, but so is a flower, a rock, a star, the air-- everything in the universe is energy, just in different forms.

One of the foundations of Spring Forest Qigong healing is based on the simple, yet profound understanding that everything in the universe is energy, and that means YOU are an energy being.

Every cell in your body is a form of energy. Your thoughts are also a form of energy. Sickness, whether it manifests physically, mentally, or emotionally, is also a form of energy.

Imagine how effective you can be if you become more aware of your energy and learn how to direct the transformation of your energy. All you have to do is learn how to transform and enhance your energy, and then put it to use.

In China, the study and practice of transforming the energy (qi) to live a life of optimum health, wellness, and happiness came to be called qigong. (Qigong has many other facets as well, but it is the healing aspect we are focus on at SFQ)

So how do we change the vibration of our energy to be happier, healthier, more positive, more creative, more joyful and more helpful for yourself and to others?

AWARENESS. When you become more aware of your thoughts, breath, and actions you are able to change the energy vibration to a higher vibration... one of love, happiness, and joy.

You can change the vibration of your energy to be Happier, Healthier, more Positive, more Creative, more Joyful, and more Helpful to yourself and to others, all you need to do is bring your energy into balance, maintain that balance, and keep the energy flowing smoothly. And you can accomplish this through the practice of Qigong.

😂 Laughter as a Healing Tool 😂

One of my students asked, “Can laughter cleanse or open blockages since it involves exhaling through the mouth?”

I really love this question. You are really deep into the understanding of how Qi works in the body. When you laugh, of course, you need to take in more air so that your lungs will fill up with more Qi. Then you can laugh louder.

That's a very good exercise for your lungs. When you laugh loud, you have to make sound from your mouth. When you laugh, that means you are happy. When you are happy, the Qi in your liver is happy and then your heart is happy and your entire body runs much better, and that positive energy can help clear blockages and promote healing. 💖

That's why healing can take place. When you laugh loud, actually, it's from your heart.

It's your heart's vibration. It can help to heal the body faster.

Laughing is not only fun, but it’s also scientifically proven to reduce stress, boost immune function, and release endorphins. Plus, it just feels amazing! 😄
So go ahead, laugh with all your heart—it’s one of the simplest and most joyful ways to boost your health! 🙌

“Even if you’ve never heard the word ‘Qigong’ before, you have been doing it all your life, you may have just not realized it.”

Qigong means “working with energy.” It does not mean “doing your qigong exercises and meditations.”

So, yes, it is BEST if you make time to do Small Universe or the Butterfly Meditation and the healing movements.

But that’s a limited view of Qigong. You can do Qigong anywhere, anytime, all day long.

How about this?

When you go grocery shopping, try to smile with love every time someone makes eye contact with you.
Smiling opens your heart, and it helps to open the heart of the other person.
The love you share this way is the most powerful healing energy there is, and smiling releases endorphins in your own body – which help you to heal. What do you think happens when you keep doing that?

When you are standing in line, sitting in traffic, or sitting at home, practice energy breathing.
That means visualizing healing energy entering every pore of your skin, running between all your cells, and gathering deep behind your navel when you breathe in, then visualizing any pain or sickness leaving the body as smoke – out through the pores, going to the ends of the sky.

This breathing is a foundation of Spring Forest Qigong, and you can do it any time, anywhere, with no physical effort.

Before you leave the house every morning or before you go to bed every night, take a few seconds to close your eyes and give thanks for ten things in your life.

They can be as simple as, “I am thankful I have food today” or “I am thankful for a chance to have a better day today.”

Gratitude helps the kidney energy, and kidney energy is the body’s vitality.

The more you can support the kidney energy, the faster you can heal and the more energy you will have to do everything you like.

So you see my friend, you can bring your qigong practice into every moment, not just by doing movements and meditations.
