Yesterday around 5:30 p.m., a mother and her daughter visited our SHI professional in Malawi.

The girl, Tionge, is 13 years old. After contracting malaria at age 7 and receiving treatment, she lost her hearing, and over time, her speech declined. Financial challenges forced her to leave a school for the deaf, and back in her village she was often left out at school and church.

After being fit with hearing aids in both ears, Tionge smiled as she heard again, repeating words and responding when called from a distance.

Mom and daughter left grateful and smiling, a powerful testament of how our WFA model brings hearing healthcare anywhere, anytime, changing lives in even the most remote environments.

Mercedes broke down to us after being fit with hearing aids, sharing the difficulty she was having at work in a good job with the government in the water sector. As an assistant, she was facing silent challenges everyday from her hearing loss that caused fear, worry, and uncertainty.

Those emotions poured out as her hearing aids were turned on and her future suddenly felt brighter.

We cherish these moments, knowing how vulnerable it is to share the struggles of hearing loss and its effects on one’s life, and the joy and relief it is when it no longer has a hold on you.

Meet Rossanli, a 21-year-old college student studying marketing in Dominican Republic whom we met & fit during a recent Starkey Hearing Foundation mission.

With better hearing, Rossanli no longer has to fear about missing key details from her teachers, straining to follow lectures or stressing in group projects. Hearing clearly brings participating with ease, confidence in collaborating with classmates, and focusing on her opportunities ahead.

She thanked Starkey Hearing Foundation and can't wait to get back into the classroom.

Meet one of our eldest patients in the Dominican Republic at 89 years young! 🎉Who didn't let his age stop him from bringing his light, joy and laughter from the moment he was cared for by our team to receive hearing aids.

The happiness he radiated was infectious - everyone in the room couldn’t help but smile and feel it too. Watching him connect with his world again was a powerful reminder that hearing isn’t just about sound, it’s about connection and the little moments that make life full.

During our Dominican Republic mission, a father with severe hearing loss arrived with his young son and wife, who also lives with significant hearing loss of her own. As the hearing aids were placed on the father, his son quietly stepped closer and asked, “Papa, can you hear?”

When his father smiled and said yes, the little boy broke down, throwing his arms around him, tears of joy streaming down his face. In that instant, years of strain subsided. His son no longer had to carry the weight of being his father’s ears. A father could simply hear his son’s voice and hold him close.

It felt like witnessing a miracle, one small device changing the course of an entire family’s life in a single breath. This is the power of hearing care - restoring connection, belonging, and the freedom to simply be a family.

When Caesar was 16, he came to one of the first Starkey Hearing Foundation missions in the Dominican Republic. He was still in high school and facing an uncertain future with severe hearing loss. That day, he received hearing aids, and with ongoing support from our local partners, his hearing was cared for.

Since then, Caesar has finished high school, pursued a college education, built a successful career, and is now married with a family all while continuing to use Starkey Hearing Foundation hearing devices.

We love Caesar sharing his journey with us and how it is an inspiring example of how the gift of hearing, given more than 20 years ago can open doors to education, opportunity and happiness for years to come.

Over two unforgettable days in the Dominican Republic, Starkey Hearing Foundation witnessed silence replaced with sound and strangers became family.
Nearly 600 individuals sat in anticipation. Moments later, tears fell, laughter followed, and faces lit up as over 1,000 hearing aids were fit. A simple device became a lifeline, ending isolation, easing hardship, and reopening the world to freedom and hope.
This work would not be possible without our incredible onsite partners at AudioNet, and the devoted guests and volunteers who showed up with open hands and even bigger hearts to serve their neighbors and community. The impact was immediate and deeply emotional, feeling lives changing in real time.
We look forward to sharing more of these powerful stories in the days ahead.

As we close out the year, we’re filled with gratitude.
Because of you, thousands of people experienced the joy of sound, connection, and dignity this year. Thank you for making it possible. ✨

🩵 Meet a family whose love spans generations - and whose story moved us during our recent mission in Guatemala.

Isabelle Parades Palma brought her grandparents, Marta (80) and Manuel (86), to receive hearing aids for the first time. Married 63 years, with 8 children and 30 grandchildren, they’ve spent a lifetime surrounded by family, stories, and moments to remember. Thanks to the care of our newly graduated hearing healthcare professionals, they can now enjoy those everyday joys again - from the giggles of little ones to the conversations that keep them close.

Here’s to families that care across generations, and to the sounds that brings us all together. ❤️✨

This holiday season, we’re reminded that the greatest gift isn’t always found under the tree - it’s found in the moments that bring us closer together.

Because of you, more people around the world are reconnecting with loved ones, rediscovering laughter, and hearing the sounds that make life meaningful. Thank you for being part of a global community that believes connection changes everything.

Wishing you a season filled with joy, hope, and the sounds of togetherness. 💙✨

🎁 This holiday season, we’re grateful for our longtime friends The Tenors who have traveled with Starkey Hearing Foundation on mission trips and seen firsthand the power of hearing healthcare. 🎶

Their special message reminds us that music, laughter, and connection are gifts meant to be shared. We invite you to take a moment to watch - and, if you’re inspired, help give the gift of hearing healthcare to someone in need. 🩵

✨ At Starkey Hearing Foundation, we have the privilege of witnessing full-circle journeys - and Juan Carlos’ story is one we hold especially close. ✨

Juan Carlos first came to the Foundation as a child in 1995, when Dr. Carla Rondeau brought his family to our co-founder, Mr. Bill Austin. That was the day he received his first hearing aids - and the beginning of a lifelong connection rooted in care, possibility, and belief. Over the years, Juan Carlos remained close to the mission. He returned not just as a patient, but as a volunteer - showing up at missions, learning, helping, and quietly growing into his purpose. Juan Carlos shared, “When I turned 25, I was given the opportunity to join the team. It felt like a privilege: to serve the same community that had once lifted me up.” 🩵

This November, Juan Carlos graduated from the Starkey Hearing Institute as a hearing healthcare professional. Today, he’s working with the Institute in Latin America - helping others rediscover the sounds that shaped his own journey.

In his own words: “My favorite sounds? The ones that remind me I’m alive - like nature… and a little electronic music to bring me joy.” 🎵❤️
