Always tell the truth. Then you’ll never have to remember what you said the last time.”
~Sam Rayburn

"Being honest, even with ourselves, can be difficult. A little embellishment here, a little fact changing there-- we all do it from time to time.
Sometimes it’s just that we want to make ourselves look a little better to the person we are speaking with; we might want to seem more glamorous or worldly. We don’t really think of it as an untruth.

But those little “white lies” can come back to haunt you as they pile up. Remembering what “story” you have told and to whom becomes a
burden. You might rationalize that you only changed things a little, but you know better!

We all remember things differently; but try to remember them truthfully, not in a way that will make you be perceived as someone that you aren’t. Be honest with yourself and with others. You’ll be happier in the long run."

“Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same
number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Louis Pasteur,
Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert
Einstein.” --H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

It comes down to this.... we all have time for the things we truly
WANT to do. If there’s a passion for doing something, we find the time;
if there’s an activity we want to go to, we find the time; a movie we want
to see, we find the time.

But making time for the less desirable things in life is something
else. We may not be aware that we are making a conscious choice to put
them off, but things go on the backburner of our lives and often stay there
for years. We tell ourselves that we’ll get to them, but we don’t.

We do all have the same number of hours in a day, in a year. Recognize
what you could be doing and strive to change your ways. “Just do it!”

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”-- Confucius, ancient Chinese philosopher

Not giving up is hard. It might seem easier to just say “I’m done” and stay down; to give up. It’s difficult to realize that the hardest thing is
to keep going; that we have to keep getting up even when we feel that life is beating us down over and over. But a positive outlook on life often
counts for more than ability and we need to just keep getting up no matter what happens.

If you never made a mistake, what would you learn? Perseverance in the face of adversity often brings great rewards.

Like the “Little Engine That Could” you just have to keep going. If you keep thinking that you can do it and try again, you might suddenly find
that you have truly accomplished what you set out to do.

“Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds
sang there except those that sang best.”– Henry van D**e

It’s that time of year when the birds are not silent; every morning now
the air is filled with their calls. Their voices are loud after winter’s long,
muffled days.

Like the birds, we should all be “singing” in whatever way we can. We
need to fill the woods with our voices, our talents. Don’t say that you can’t
“do” anything. We all have talents. Do you work in wood, paint, draw,
write, play an instrument, make wonderful cookies, dance, coach sports,
garden, sew, knit, organize events.....

The exciting things we can do are endless and various-- and that’s what
makes life so interesting. We are each individual and unique and so are our
talents. Those various voices make life a symphony -- if only you choose
to listen.
