We feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the beauty of Eden Valley, with endless opportunities to step outside, slow down, and reconnect with what matters most.

and son who experienced firsthand the challenges
of addiction and the impact it has on families. Their
shared journey through recovery inspired a program
built on compassion, structure, and understanding.
What began as a vision to create a safe place for men to heal has grown into a close-knit environment focused on accountability, connection, and lasting change.

Our mission is to help men rebuild their lives through
evidence-based treatment, experiential learning, and
genuine human support.

Every client and family who comes through our doors becomes part of that ongoing story of healing and hope.

My name is Matthew.

I’m a co-founder of Spirit Mountain Recovery.

We built it to be deep, intensive, and comprehensive.

Addiction isn’t the core issue—it’s a symptom.
If you don’t go further into the patterns, the thinking, and the family system around it, you don’t get lasting change.

We pay attention to what others miss, and we build everything around the individual—not a template.

We’re not trying to be everything to everyone.

We’re focused on doing this at the highest level possible.

That’s why it works.

Time on the river is something we incorporate into life at Spirit Mountain Recovery.

Something happens when you stand in a river with a line in the water.
Things slow down.
The noise fades.
People start to breathe again.

It becomes more than fishing.
It’s connection.
To nature.
To each other.
To themselves.

And every cast carries a little hope.

Recovery works a lot like that —

We are incredibly fortunate to have Dan Phillips leading our team. At Spirit Mountain Recovery, we know that meaningful family work is essential to long-term success — and Dan steps fully into that process with depth, skill, and heart.

With over 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field, Dan has worked extensively in both public and private settings. He specializes in supporting young adults navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, family conflict, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), relational challenges, and learning differences. His clinical approach integrates EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Relationship-Based Therapy, and Existential therapy, allowing him to meet clients with both structure and insight. Dan has been a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor since 2009.

Outside of his clinical work, Dan lives what we value connection, movement, and exploration. He is an avid mountain biker, skier, trail runner, and golfer, and has traveled extensively to Nepal, Switzerland, Thailand, Italy, and Costa Rica.

Dan brings experience, grounded leadership, and genuine care to the work we do every day.

Yesterday while speaking with someone that I highly respect they summed up why we do so well with each client in a great way. That really meant a lot to hear.

Some people work in this field to work in it and some people work in it because they HAVE TO.

“Have to” not meaning they have no other option but “have to” because they have to give back they have to be there for someone else.
“It’s in the water up there”
