Frances Hill Fulton, 92, of Eden, passed peacefully from this earthly life into her eternal rest on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after several years of declining health. She was surrounded by family and close friends.
Frances was the daughter of the late Thomas Jackson Hill and the late Janie Vernon Hill and the widow of the late Rev. Willard Fulton, the love of her life, who passed away in 1989. She lived her entire life in Rockingham County.
Frances had spent her work life employed by the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P) and more recently by the Rockingham County Department of Social Services, from which she retired. After her retirement, she particularly enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, England and France with family members and her special church friends. She was a long-time member of Spray Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Frances was pre-deceased by four of her six siblings, a sister, Lucinda Hill Hyler and three brothers, Thomas Hill, Vernon Hill, and Ronnie Hill. Her sister, Jean Young (Homer) of Pinnacle, NC and her brother Jason Hill, Sr., of Kernersville, NC survive.
Known affectionately as “Mema,” she took great pride and received immense joy from her role as matriarch of her large close-knit family consisting of two daughters, Linda Mabe (Doug) of Roxboro, NC, Brenda Tippett (Steve) of Reidsville, NC; five grandchildren, Jason Strader (Rachel) of Conway, SC, Neil Strader (Miah) of Oak Island, NC, Ben Strader (Christine) of Madison, NC, David Mabe (Molly) of Lexington, VA, and Kristen Pierce (Nick) of Raleigh, NC; fifteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She relished large family gatherings at Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthdays.
The service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Spray Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Ridge-View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm before the service at the church.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Abby Hylton and the staff at Silver Treasures Senior Living (formerly the Bayberry Retirement Inn) for the love and care extended to Mema during the last four years; to Amanda Wilson of Ancora Compassionate Care for her warm and tender care during Mema’s final days; and to her special church friends, travel companions, and Friday lunch buddies, Bonnie Stophel, and Miriam and Winford Dyches for their love, friendship, and care over the years.
