Coming to Edenton early 2nd quarter of 2023! Bream Medical is bringing back "old school" medicine to the communities in which is operates. Short patient visits, overuse of referrals, and the emphasis on profits over patients has ruined medicine. At Bream Medical, we are bringing back longer patient encounters, lower cash fee rates, and an emphasis on taking care of all of our patient's needs. We are doing this by cutting out the middle men, mainly corporate medicine, which has made healthcare expensive and inefficient! Give us a call today to join the revolution in healthcare! Dr. John Bream graduated from undergraduate studies at East Carolina University in 2005 with a BS in Biology and a BA in History. Dr. Bream completed his MD at the Brody School of Medicine in 2009 and Emergency Medicine residency training in 2012 at Vidant Medical Center. Dr. Bream is currently practicing in multiple Emergency Departments across North Carolina and has 5+ years of Medical Director experience as well. My thoughts on oral Wegovy (based on the limited info we have):

Small trial (307 patients)

74% GI side effect rate is EXTREME!

Must be taken daily and on an empty stomach. Cannot eat or drink anything for at least 30 minutes (probably longer is more ideal) afterward.

Weight loss mean 13.6% on HIGHEST dose (comparable to injectable that had 14.9% mean weight loss at highest dose). Study did not share weight loss results on the 1.5mg, 4mg, or 9mg dosing, which I posit suggests the weight loss on these doses is likely not very good.

Cost = $199/mo for 1.5mg and 4mg
$299/mo for 9mg and 25mg

VERDICT - unless you’re needle phobic, this medication does not provide any advantages over the injectable semaglutide, has slightly less weight loss, a much higher (I’d say extreme) GI side effect risk), and is at about the same price point.

Tirzepatide is still the best weight loss medication available.

Novo Nordisk's Wegovy pill is the first and only oral GLP-1 for weight loss in adults.

Annie has always been a blessing to our office. She still helps us out with our medical prior authorizations.

She had a major neurosurgery today to remove a large meningioma that has caused her to be deaf in her left ear and was pushing on her midbrain making her severely dizzy with multiple falls.
