🚨✨ Exciting News at SRHC! ✨🚨

We are thrilled to welcome Olivia Chasteen to the SRHC provider team!

Olivia grew up in central Wisconsin. After becoming a mother and realizing she wanted a better way to care for her newborn, she began training in American herbalism. She went on to earn her Master Herbalist Certification from The School of Natural Healing in Utah, one of the nation’s oldest herbalism schools. Olivia is also a Certified SymptoPro Fertility Education Instructor and a Certified Lactation Counselor.

Her primary area of focus is hormones. She has been a member of the International Institute for Restorative Reproductive Medicine, and has completed advanced training with the Institute for Menstrual Health. Olivia holds a deep appreciation for the vital role hormones play in overall well-being when they are in balance.

Outside of her work with clients, Olivia enjoys staying current on fertility and cycle health research, spending time with her family, and tending her “food and medicine” garden.

A calcium shell is a protective mechanism for our body when it's been under long-term stress or trauma. Calcium is really meant to exist in the bones and the teeth, but when it's lacking the minerals that help keep it in the bone, then it will start getting pulled from the bone and start building up in the soft tissue. When calcium is high or displaced, it can concentrate on the cells and form a "shell". Your nervous system starts shutting things down to survive. And you start to feel flat, numb, and exhausted.

This is why we run HTMA's - because minerals are the messengers and tell us what your body is really going through. We uncover mineral imbalances and help get to the root of what's going on.

Comment HEAL and we'll send you details for our consult call.

🤍 Today is a day of mourning, a day of remembrance, and a day to hold our loved ones a little closer. May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who rose, and the reminder that in the face of darkness, love and unity shine brightest. Let’s choose compassion, kindness, and love; today and always. 🇺🇸

It's almost fall, which means soup season! This recipe is rich in protein and provides a variety of vitamins and minerals.

1 Yellow Onion (diced)
4 stalks Celery (diced)
3 Carrot (medium, chopped)
1 tbsp Rosemary (fresh)
8 ozs Chicken Breast (boneless, skinless)
1 lb Chicken Thighs (boneless, skinless)
Sea Salt & Black Pepper (to taste)
6 cups
Water (or broth)

Directions:
Add all ingredients to the crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hrs.
Once chicken is cooked through, transfer it to a large bowl and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the crock pot and let it soak for at least 5-10 minutes, or as long as you wish, before serving.

“High cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes run in my family.”

I hear this all the time, and while family history can influence our health, genetics do not dictate our destiny. Just because a condition is common in your family doesn’t mean you’re doomed to develop it.

Your health isn’t determined by your genes—it’s determined by how your body responds to your environment, stress, and nervous system state. Chronic stress, poor nutrition, lack of movement, and poor sleep all send signals to your body that can trigger inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and disease.

Our genes are like a light switch—they can be turned on or off depending on our lifestyle and habits. This is called epigenetics, and it’s why conditions like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and insulin resistance are more about daily choices than fixed genetic fate.

The good news? You have more control than you think! By supporting your nervous system, reducing stress, nourishing your body, and creating a healthy environment, you can change how your body expresses those genes.

Instead of thinking, “This runs in my family, so it’s inevitable,” let’s shift the mindset to:
✨ “This runs in my family, so I need to be extra mindful of my habits and how I respond to stress.”

Your body is adaptable. Small, intentional changes can have a profound impact on your health. Your story isn’t written in stone—it’s shaped by the choices you make every day.

What’s one healthy habit you’ve started that has made a difference in your life? Drop it in the comments—I’d love to hear! ⬇️✨

Let’s Get Back To Health!

Functional Medicine is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Functional Medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, Functional Medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.
