For nearly a decade, Yoga on the Vine, Aligned Pilates, and Yoga of the Valley have been more than places to take class. We have built communities where practice has purpose, where movement becomes a path to living with greater intention, and where the principles of yoga are carried far beyond the mat.
Yoga is not simply about poses. At its heart, it asks how we live, how we treat others, and how we respond to the world around us. Principles like ahimsa, compassion, and non-harming, and seva, selfless service, guide the way we lead our businesses, support our communities, and engage with those in need. The steadiness, resilience, and awareness cultivated in practice are meant to become action in daily life.
That mission shapes the real work we do. Our leadership team serves on boards including Habitat for Humanity of Martha’s Vineyard, the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce, the Martha’s Vineyard Animal Shelter, and Vineyard Montessori. We actively support organizations such as the Edgartown Council on Aging, the Greater Northampton Chamber of Commerce, The Trevor Project LGBTQ+ Crisis Line, Manna Kitchen, and Doctors Without Borders through volunteering, fundraising, advocacy, and direct service.
Our commitment also extends globally. Lora is a founding member of Noor Action and Concert to Connect, nonprofit organizations dedicated to human rights, humanitarian relief, dignity, and connection across borders. Through scholarships, donations, and community initiatives, we aim to ensure that wellness is never isolated from justice, and that personal growth is connected to collective care.
We hold a high standard of teaching that is thoughtful, inclusive, and rooted in integrity. But what matters most is that our practice does not end when class does. We believe the true measure of yoga is how we move through the world, how we care for one another, and how we use our strength in service of something greater than ourselves.🤍
