Our prayers are with Ada Duncan after her unexpected passing today. Ada dispatched for over 20 years and navigated EMS to and from calls. She was also the calming voice answering the 911 call for the callers on the other end. Dispatching takes a unique and skilled individual to be able to answer the call for help. Ada will be greatly missed and her legacy will live on in answering the calls for help.

In 2024, South Carolina EMS crews responded to 91,689 more calls than the previous year—totaling over 1.6 million responses. That's one call every 90 seconds, even as the number of licensed agencies and credentialed providers has declined.

This growing demand underscores the urgent need for legislative support.

If you're attending tomorrow's SCEMSA Legislative Breakfast, we urge you to invite your Representative or Senator to join the conversation.

Edgefield County EMS is up and operational, please be patient as we navigate to you. This may result in a longer response time.

Our ambulances and supervisor are responding to calls for service as safely as conditions allow. We have modified our operations to safely serve you. This means any patients requiring transport will be taken to the closest appropriate hospital.

We encourage everyone to stay off the roads until road conditions improve. If you must venture outside, please be cautious for downed trees, powerlines, or other debris.
