In July, Kristen & Michelle spoke to the members of the Verona Senior Center about the concept of 1 Rep Max living (1RM).

What is 1RM living? When demands of life are near or exceeding one’s max capacity.

We discussed how this relates to low physical resilience and resources to combat it.

A concept new to many, but deeply engrained in the culture of The Institute of Clinical Excellence - an education company for rehab providers that Forward PTs participate in regularly.

All eyes on Connor yesterday evening in front of the Milton Youth Football coaches.
There is a Wisconsin requirement for coaches and parents to get education regarding concussions, but sometimes that education leaves coaches and parents feeling like a lot of this is out of their control.
Connor covered all things, signs and symptoms, how to recognize a concussion, equipped coaches with questions to ask their athletes if they suspect a head injury in what rehab looks like if there is a concussion sustained based on current evidence
Gone are the days of grading concussions as mild, moderate, severe and just like every other muscular skeletal injury complete rest is not the answer.

ICYMI: .nett.dpt forgot to connect to the WiFi so we faced some technical difficulties during our 1 Rep Max Living presentation at the Verona Senior Center’s Pickleball Grand.
No worries though, Michelle filled the silence with her rendition of “God Bless America” until we could continue on with the show
Everyone participated in the 30 second sit to stand test and Grip Strength assessment to see where they stack up against their age-matched peers.

JULY has been a FUN & engaging month!nett.dpt and spent a morning at the Verona Senior Center’s Pickleball Grand Opening event - they were fully equipped with a seasoned pickleball instructor and Kristen took everyone through a dynamic warm up, talked about Pickleball injury management and how the sport has grown significantly in the last few years.
Members got a briefing on rules, scoring and were able to get some court time. Kristen and Shannon had a great time engaging with this community!
The spark of the day? A member coming out of Pickleball retirement for over 7 years looking forward to picking the sport up again at the age of 85.
