It's true! Rolfing can affect a horse's stride length.

If a horse is experiencing hind-end and/or shoulder weakness or stiffness, they might accommodate by shortening their stride. A lack of forward impulsion and energy, along with shortened strides in all gaits, are only some of the issues which result from negative fascial adhesions.

To resolve this, a rolfing program is designed to focus on the structures needing work to integrate pelvic & shoulder girdles to enhance movement.

This equine rolfing, human rolfing, and brain integration client came to Sue because she was interested in finding way to make her horses feel their best. After Sue's programs, her "horses feel more even and happy," and she "feels the same way after [her} sessions with [Sue]."

Full review below! ⬇️

"Sue has a very kind soul which the horses respond to. She helps keep my jumper feeling his best by waking up and engaging his muscles. She has helped me feel even in my own body and mind. Sue is an integral part the program I have created for my horse."

More than just horses, we treat humans too!

Red Road Healing Arts takes a holistic approach to equine and equestrian health. Because rider habits often translate into horse habits, we can physically connect the dots between horse and rider- for example, a horse with a hard right side will reveal a right-dominant rider and vise versa.

Rolfing aligns and balances horse and rider teams for optimal performance.

👇 Seeking suppleness & softness in the bridle for your horse 👇

Bodywork that releases cervical tension; via attention to cervical musculature, detail to nuchal ligament: wither to poll, and direct work on jaw: masseter/temperalis.

After the work, one often notices an increase in range of motion, ie enhancement of side bend, access of poll & a softening for the horse throughout

3 signs your horse might need Rolfing:

1. They've developed a hard drift, for example, a horse that lands in a consistent direction indicating sternal distortion
2. They've been getting unresponsive to your leg
3. Inconsistent soundness that you can't quite figure out

Rolfing assesses the entire structural integrity of the horse and manipulates the fascia to allow for better movement, flexibility, and balance. A comprehensive rolfing program can sometimes act as a 'reset button' for horses experiencing stiffness or weakness.

"A child who reads will be an adult who thinks."

12/16/2022

I asked an elderly man once what it was like to be old and to know the majority of his life was behind him.

He told me that he has been the same age his entire life. He said the voice inside of his head had never aged. He has always just been the same boy. His mother's son.

He had always wondered when he would grow up and be an old man.

He said he watched his body age and his faculties dull but the person he is inside never got tired. Never aged. Never changed.

Our spirits are eternal. Our souls are forever.

The next time you encounter an elderly person, look at them and know they are still a child, just as you are still a child
and children will always need love, attention and purpose.

💡DID YOU KNOW💡

A horse that has been diagnosed with a cellulitis, once veterinarian-approved, can benefit from Rolfing. Rolfing can be used for lymph drainage as it works to take the swelling out of the legs, once the infection is no longer present.

Here are three BIG ways rolfing helps balance your horse and improve their performance:

1. Creates elasticity of the shoulder girdle: The shoulder girdle is a main point in motion and alignment. By improving it's elasticiy, rolfing decreases the risk of injury.

2. Connection of the barrel: A more equal front & hind end connects the horse and promotes balance. Often, a horse can look disjointed or as if the front end and hind end come from two different horses- rolfing can unite the the front and hind ends for a stronger connection.

3. Reset of asymmetries: Strength cannot form properly unless there is balance. Waking musculature that has become atrophied can be restored through rolfing.
