What a great way to kick off the Minnesota Psychiatric Society meeting!

Although the main event is tomorrow, MPS hosted an intimate gathering this evening for current residents and early career psychiatrists to meet with Dr. Mark Frye, Dr. Monica Taylor-Desir, and incoming APA President Dr. Mark Rapaport in a small-group mentor roundtable to discuss contracts, first jobs, leadership, advocacy, and what comes next.

What a truly inspiring evening. I got to learn about Dr. Frye’s work with mood disorders at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Taylor-Desir’s panel discussion at tomorrow’s meeting, and how a meandering path through early career helped Dr. Rapaport now be looking at starting his term as APA president next month.

I hope to continue my involvement with this organization that helps support the critical work of psychiatrists and advancing advocacy for our field.

See you tomorrow for the main conference! I’m looking forward to sharing my poster presentation with peers and colleagues.

I had the pleasure of presenting my expertise in the area of ADHD medication treatment to an audience of therapists wanting to know how to best support their clients when common medication challenges creep up during sessions-
1. Am I on a low or high dose of this medication? 💊
2. Why is my doctor making me go to the pharmacy every 30 days for this prescription? 📆
3. Is it normal to have brain zaps if I miss a dose of my medication? ⚡️

We had a great discussion and I’m proud to collaborate with all mental providers to help our clients feel supported and heard. Tell me… what questions do you have for an ADHD psychiatrist? 👇

The best hack for ADHD is not another planner or productivity app, it’s actually a psychiatrist that gets you. Whether you were diagnosed as a child or were a high achieving child that learned compensatory mechanisms… I’ve got you.

I got lots of ideas for ADHD content to raise awareness and help you feel seen and understood. Let me know something that you want to see in the comments! 👇👇👇

More adults are getting diagnosed with ADHD. Doesn’t mean this is a new diagnosis, just a missed one.

More adults are getting diagnosed with ADHD. Doesn’t mean this is a new diagnosis, just a missed one.

“I prayed the years would last before my son left home.”

Thirty-five years later, after raising three children and receiving an ADHD diagnosis as an adult, one mother looks back on motherhood with new understanding.

CHADD editorial advisory board member Jane Indergaard, DNP, RN, reflects on what it means for many women to discover ADHD later in life—and how that realization can bring new understanding to the past.

Every step of the journey matters. Today, I'm taking a moment to appreciate the progress and the growth along the way- one year ago version of me would be proud to see the bold leap I've taken to create something new. 💚💚

ADHD in women can look different.

Many women experience ADHD as:
😰Feeling overwhelmed or disorganized
😵‍💫 Being easily distracted
😩 Struggling with motivation or follow-through

Because these symptoms can be less outwardly hyperactive, girls are often missed by teachers, parents, and healthcare systems.

For many women, ADHD only becomes clear later in life—often during major life transitions or hormonal changes, or when the stress of daily life becomes too much (even for high achievers!)

Awareness leads to understanding. Understanding leads to support.

It’s time to recognize ADHD in women and girls. 💜
