Paragon Pilates, Physical Therapy & Dance Medicine

Paragon Pilates, Physical Therapy & Dance Medicine At Paragon, we provide physical therapy and Pilates training to help you move better and feel better Clients loved our approach. As word spread, our studio grew.

Paragon is a unique, welcoming space that supports every body on their wellness journey. When we opened Paragon Pilates and Physical Therapy in 2009, we wanted to create a supportive, restorative environment that brought together the rehabilitative side and the athletic side of physical therapy with Pilates. Our first studio space was so small we had to rearrange our reformers to make room for a large mat class. For many, the results were life changing. In 2010, we moved to our current location to better accommodate our clients, our classes, our staff and affiliated teachers, as well as our commitment to teacher training and continuing education. We now have space for all of our Pilates classes, one-on-one sessions, and two private physical therapy rooms. Clients say we’re like family. We couldn’t be more honored or grateful.

Do you want to improve your balance? Try these simple exercises at home!

Safety first!

These exercises should be done at the bottom of the stairs and near something solid you can hold onto if you lose your balance.

Stand at the bottom of the stairs near the handrail.Start with your feet together and eyes straight ahead, and find steadiness. Then hover your hand over the railing and close your eyes. Again, try to find steadiness. This might be more of a challenge! Then, open your eyes and place one foot on the bottom step with your hand still hovering over the railing. In this supported single-leg balance, start to slowly look side to side to increase the challenge. Once you feel confident in that position, lift your foot off the step and find your balance. If you need an extra challenge, slowly look side to side, keeping your hand hovering over the handrail. Give it a try!

Paragon Pilates Side Lying Leg Series Quick Tip

This series targets the outer hip and thigh, and also works on core stabilization. Follow along as Rose teaches a quick side lying leg series! Shoulders and hips should be level with the back of your mat. Straighten your legs out and bring them slightly forward. You can either use your arm or a pillow for support under your head. The top arm will come to the mat either flat or in a fist. Engage deep abdominals. Obliques lifted. Shoulders and hips stay still without rotating forward or back. Shoulders and hips stay still without rotating forward or back.

#1: Side Leg Lifts - Externally rotate the top leg, then inhale to lift and exhale to lower. Make sure the hips don't rock back.

#2: Side Leg Circles - Engage deep abdominals. Obliques lifted. Lift the top leg to hip height and circle it around with control. Lift the top leg again to hip height and circle it around, this time making medium circles. Reverse the circles, both small and medium.

#3: Side Leg Kicks - Bring the leg up to hip height, and move it forward and back with control. Give it a try!
