🧠 It's PANDAS/PANS Awareness Day! 🧠

What is PANDAS?

Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Strep (PANDAS) is a condition where children suddenly develop OCD, tics, anxiety, or emotional changes after a strep infection. It’s important to note that not all kids show typical strep symptoms, making a thorough diagnosis essential.

What is PANS?
Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) is broader, with similar symptoms triggered by various infections, like Lyme or even the common cold. It can be tough to diagnose, but early detection is crucial for better outcomes.

Common symptoms for both include separation anxiety, OCD, mood swings, change in cognition, irritability, handwriting difficulties, and others.

Our team of providers has many years of experiences working with PANDAS/PANS patients, and have found when a functional and integrative approach is used, PANS/PANDAS patients may heal quicker, need IVIG less, and have fewer relapses.
