APA Stress in America™ 2025: A Crisis of Connection

At Bluebonnet Counseling & Assessment Center, we see every day how stress, disconnection, and uncertainty impact the well-being of individuals and families in our community. The American Psychological Association’s Stress in America 2025 report highlights just how widespread these experiences have become.

Key Findings from APA’s 2025 Report

62% of U.S. adults say societal division is a major source of stress.

Nearly half of Americans report loneliness—feeling isolated, left out, or lacking companionship.

Those most stressed by division are far more likely to experience anxiety, fatigue, headaches, and chronic health conditions.

Concerns about the nation’s future remain high, especially among young adults and parents.

Stress about misinformation and AI has increased dramatically since last year.

A Message for Our Community

Even with these challenges, the report also highlights resilience: most adults remain hopeful, believe in their ability to build a meaningful life, and feel responsible for shaping a better future.

At Bluebonnet, we remain committed to providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health care that supports connection, emotional well-being, and healthier communities across the Rio Grande Valley.

On November 1, our team at Bluebonnet Counseling and Assessment Center had the privilege of attending and supporting Shrink Box Foundation’s 2025 Gala, Unmasking Stigma.

As a trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice, we are deeply committed to expanding access to quality mental health care and supporting organizations that are doing the same. Shrink Box continues to uplift our community through advocacy, education, and meaningful support for those navigating mental health challenges.

It was a thoughtful and inspiring evening of connection and celebration. We are grateful for opportunities to show up together as a team and to stand alongside partners who share our dedication to compassionate, community-centered care.

Amy is passionate about walking alongside people as they navigate life’s challenges and discover their strengths. She has experience supporting both adolescents and adults through difficult seasons, and she creates a safe, encouraging space where growth and healing can happen.

She draws from Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, and DBT, tailoring her approach to each individual’s needs. At the heart of her work is a deep belief that growth is possible at every stage of life.

Please join us in congratulating Pedro Garay, LPC, on completing 30 hours of specialized training to become an ADHD-Certified Clinical Service Provider (CCSP)!

This advanced certification equips Pedro with evidence-based tools to better support individuals with ADHD in areas such as attention, executive functioning, and emotional regulation.

🌿 Meet Our New Therapist: Ledy Cruz, M.Ed., LPC

We are thrilled to welcome Ledy Cruz, Licensed Professional Counselor, to Bluebonnet Counseling and Assessment Center!

Ledy brings over a decade of experience walking alongside individuals through some of life’s most difficult and transformative moments. With a Master's in Counseling from UTRGV, she offers a compassionate, client-centered approach rooted in safety, trust, and empowerment.

Her specialties include supporting individuals facing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and complex PTSD, and she has deep experience working with youth in shelter care and those navigating systemic or interpersonal stress. Ledy draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches—including Person-Centered, Solution-Focused, CBT, and trauma-informed practices—to support clients at their own pace.

As a bilingual clinician (English/Spanish), Ledy is passionate about providing inclusive, culturally responsive care that meets clients exactly where they are.
