DHR Health welcomes Dr. Gabriel Gonzalez to our team!

Dr. Gonzalez is double board-certified in general surgery and vascular surgery and will specialize in peripheral arterial disease, limb salvage, carotid artery disease, aneurysmal disease, dialysis access, venous disorders, and vascular trauma.

A native of the Rio Grande Valley, Gonzalez earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas and completed a general surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He then completed a specialized fellowship in vascular surgery at the same institution.

In addition to his dual board certifications, Dr. Gonzalez holds the Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) credential, validating his expertise in interpreting non-invasive vascular studies.

Meet Saul Anaya, a Coder IV at DHR Health, proudly celebrating 13 years of service!

Saul plays a key role in reviewing medical documentation and translating procedures into accurate codes for billing and records. He also works closely with physicians to ensure everything is properly documented and helps educate others on coding practices.

He values the strong teamwork at DHR Health and enjoys working alongside coworkers who support and challenge each other every day. He sees coding as a puzzle that keeps his mind active and engaged, giving him something new to figure out each day.

He finds fulfillment in the constant growth his role offers. With something new to learn every day, he appreciates being in an environment that pushes him to improve and never become stagnant.

Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Saul is a proud husband and dog owner. Outside of work, Saul enjoys reading, going for walks, working out at the gym, and spending time with his wife.

More than 2 million people in the United States are living with limb loss, and many more are at risk each year.

As part of Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month, DHR Health Rehabilitation Hospital is proud to support individuals and families in the Rio Grande Valley navigating life after limb loss.

Our amputee support group provides a space for patients, caregivers, and families to connect, share experiences, and find support throughout recovery and rehabilitation. In partnership with the Amputee Coalition, the group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 11:00 a.m. at DHR Health Rehabilitation Hospital.

DHR Health in Edinburg, Texas was originally opened as an outpatient facility in 1997 by a group of local doctors interested in providing personalized high quality healthcare to its patients. DHR has grown into a 500+ bed general acute care hospital, with a medical staff of over 700 physicians covering 75 specialties.

Our MISSION is to improve the well-being of those we serve with a commitment to excellence: every patient, every encounter, every time.

Serving the lower Rio Grande Valley, DHR Health sees patients from across Hidalgo County, including McAllen, Mission, and Pharr. We offer a wide range of services including emergency, stroke, and heart care.
