You can’t always feel it, but your doctor can.

Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine cancer, yet many people haven’t heard of the simple way to catch it early. A quick neck check during a routine visit can help detect thyroid nodules, some of which may be cancerous.

Experts can perform a neck check right in the exam room. When found early, thyroid cancer is often treatable, which is why asking for a neck check makes a difference.

Call (956) 362-5650 to learn about your next steps.

Meet Jocelyn Medina, a dedicated CNA at the DHR Health Women’s Hospital, proudly celebrating 14 years of service!

Born in Chicago and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Jocelyn has built a meaningful career at DHR Health. She earned her CNA certification from a local college while already working at DHR Health, furthering her skills to grow within the organization.

In her role, Jocelyn supports mothers and their newborns, assisting with care and performing hearing tests on babies. What she loves most is being part of one of life’s most beautiful moments. Helping new moms and caring for newborns in their first hours of life reminds her that she’s part of something much greater.

One of her most memorable experiences has been working with mothers who have waited years to welcome a child. Getting to witness their joy and the emotion in the room is something she’ll never forget.

Outside of work, Jocelyn loves spending time with her husband and four children. Whether at home or out together, family time is what she cherishes most.

Thank you, Jocelyn, for 14 years of compassion, care, and service at DHR Health!

The DHR Health Level I Trauma Center has been re-verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). This designation represents the highest level of trauma care, ensuring patients with the most severe injuries receive complete treatment close to home.

Our trauma specialists have cared for patients during life-threatening emergencies, changing what emergency medicine looks like in South Texas. This re-verification confirms that our protocols, training, and outcomes meet the strictest national standards.

In case of emergency, call 911 immediately. Our expert team is always ready, because every second counts.

We’re celebrating 14 new graduates of the DHR Health Registered Nurse Apprenticeship Program, a powerful step forward in building a healthier Rio Grande Valley, one nurse at a time.

DHR Health was the first in the region to launch this type of apprenticeship program, and today it remains one of the few of its kind in Texas. Each student completes 2,000 hours of paid, hands-on clinical training while earning their nursing degree, gaining real-world experience that prepares them to deliver high-quality care from day one.

Congratulations to our graduates! Your dedication, compassion, and commitment to learning will help shape the future of healthcare in the Rio Grande Valley. We’re proud to be part of your journey.

DHR Health was proud to join the City of Edinburg at this year’s Prostate Cancer Wellness Event, an effort to encourage men in our community to take charge of their health.

The event, held in honor of Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr.’s prostate cancer journey, offered free health screenings, showing how early detection plays a critical role in saving lives. For men over 40 or with a family history, regular screenings can make all the difference. Our team was there to provide support, share resources, and start conversations about men’s health.

At DHR Health, preventive care and advanced treatment for prostate cancer are available right here in the Rio Grande Valley, giving men access to the services they need close to home.

We thank the City of Edinburg for bringing the community together in support of men’s health. For more information on our services, call our Oncology Institute at (956) 362-2250.

At DHR Health Oncology Institute, we are here to help support you whether it’s through advanced diagnostics, expert treatment, or helping you recognize when something isn’t right.

Meet Elizabeth Trejo, a dedicated CNA at the DHR Health Women’s Hospital, proudly celebrating 17 years of service!

Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Elizabeth provides hands-on care to new moms and their babies, offering support, guidance, and coaching, especially with lactation and newborn care. Her work helps create a smooth and memorable start for every new family she serves.

With a husband, children, and grandchildren of her own, family is at the heart of everything she does. That same spirit carries over into her workplace, where she considers her coworkers to be like family. She also deeply values her leadership team and loves the supportive environment they’ve built together.

Elizabeth shared, the most special part of her job is helping mothers experience those first moments with their newborns and watching their faces light up as they begin their journey together.

Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her loved ones, hanging out with friends, and listening to rock music, which she says plays a huge role in her life.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for 17 years of compassion, support, and heartfelt service at DHR Health!
