Congratulations to the DHR Health Women’s Hospital Postpartum Unit who secured their place in the DHR Health Champion’s Club for receiving the highest average Top Box score in Communication with Nurses and Response of Hospital Staff on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient satisfaction survey.

Every day, our team of nurses pour their heart into the people they care for by offering expert, compassionate care that makes a difference for our patients.

To celebrate them, DHR Health hosted “Pouring out Gratitude,” a gesture for their big contributions including a thoughtful gift and something sweet to lift their day. It was a chance to pause and reflect on just how much their care means.

Meet Nancy Escobar, a Family Nurse Practitioner at the DHR Health Gastroenterology Institute, proudly celebrating 14 years of service!

Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Nancy earned her RN and BSN from UT Pan American and later completed her master’s degree. She cares for patients by reviewing lab results, providing preventive care, and treating different illnesses.

Nancy is grateful to work with such a supportive and close-knit team at DHR Health. The teamwork and way everyone comes together have made her years here very special.

Her favorite part of her job is seeing patients get better. Hearing their success stories and knowing her care helped them feel healthier and live better is what inspires her every day.

Outside of work, Nancy enjoys spending time with her three children and large family. Whether it’s watching movies, trying new restaurants, or simply hanging out together, family time is what she loves most.

This summer, 125 incredible high school students dedicated their time and heart to DHR Health, supporting patients, visitors, and staff across our health system.

Together, they contributed over 8,200 volunteer hours, each completing at least 50 hours in roles that made a meaningful difference. Their compassion, energy, and commitment helped brighten the hospital and strengthen our connection to the community.

The Summer VolunTEEN Program is open to students ages 15–18 and includes a competitive, multistep application process. Applications for the 2026 program will open in March 2026 on our website.

Meet Christina Admire, a dedicated HIM Specialist I, who has been a valued part of the DHR Health family for 20 years!

Each morning, Christina gets an early start to ensure patient charts are prepared and accessible for doctors and care teams. Her work helps maintain medical accuracy and continuity for both current and future visits, playing a key role in every patient’s journey.

Originally born in Georgia and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Christina has made a lasting impact serving the community she calls home.

She values the many opportunities for growth at DHR Health and loves being part of a workplace where kindness, support, and professional development are encouraged. Her coworkers make the environment even more rewarding.

One of Christina’s favorite aspects of her role is volunteering at DHR Health community events. Being able to give back and serve alongside her team brings her great joy and fulfillment.

DHR has grown into a 500+ bed general acute care hospital, with a medical staff of over 700 physicians covering 75 specialties.
