X-Ray Positioning for the Tibia & Fibula: Corner to Corner Technique with

Like. Save & Share 🫶

When it comes to capturing clear and comprehensive X-ray images of the tibia and fibula, the corner to corner (diagonal) technique is an invaluable positioning method. This technique is particularly useful when imaging long bones like the tibia and fibula, ensuring the entire length of these bones is seen on a single image, which is crucial for accurate diagnosis and assessment.

What is the Corner to Corner Technique?

The corner to corner technique involves positioning the patient's leg diagonally across the X-ray image receptor. This approach maximizes the use of the receptor's surface area, allowing both the knee and ankle joints to be included in the image. By doing so, radiologic technologists can capture a complete view of the tibia and fibula, which is essential for detecting fractures, bone deformities, or other pathologies.
