All Out for breast cancer awareness. ๐๐งก
โ
Four years ago, Heather R. walked into OTF for the first time, and what started as a workout quickly became something more โ a second family, a support system, and a source of strength.
โ
At only 38 years old, Heather received a breast cancer diagnosis and underwent a double mastectomy. Because she chose surgery, she was able to bypass chemo and radiation โ but her journey was far from easy.
โ
"I will say that one of the first things that crossed my mind was how long I would have to take off from OTF. When I got back, I was super nervous and had no idea what I could and couldn't do. The coaches were amazing and gave me alternatives. I shed a lot of tears those first several classes after realizing my body was different now. The coaches were very attentive and encouraging when I was feeling defeated." But she found her strength again.
โ
Heather also leaves us with an important reminder: โIf youโve been putting off your mammogram, consider this your sign. Make the appointment. Do your self-exams. Take care of you.โ ๐
โ
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we honor Heather โ and everyone fighting, surviving, and thriving. Heather, weโre so grateful for your courage, your voice, and your presence in our OTF family. ๐งก
