Every year during the second week of April, telecommunications personnel in the public safety community are honored. This week-long event, initially set up in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California, is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public in this unique way.
We would like to take a moment to give a special thank you to our EMS Dispatchers, the “air traffic controllers” of the department.
Our Dispatchers provide front-line 911 call screening and help to direct care for patients before the arrival of field providers, all while maintaining situational awareness of our team. In addition, our Dispatchers are also the key element in the movement of patients across the health network, directing and deploying resources to accomplish this goal every day.
Our hats go off to Public Safety Telecommunicators worldwide as we extend our thanks and gratitude to all of them, especially those we work with day in and day out at HMH EMS.
Happy National Public Safety Te #911
