🌞 Backpacks, health checks, sunshine & smiles! 🎒đŸ©ș☀

On Saturday, August 9th, the JRF, along with Bayside Family Success Center, hosted a Back-to-School Health Fair at the PAAC Park on Francis Street in Perth Amboy — and what a day it was! Families came out for free school supplies and backpacks, health screenings, fun gifts, and community resources to help our Middlesex County kids start the school year strong. đŸ’Ș📚 We even brought our Medical Mobile Unit to the event and provided free dental screenings!

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing partners — including the Perth Amboy Police Department, Walk a Mile-N_ Our Shoes, Jersey Mikes, Blessings from Above, the Horizon NJ Health, Wellpoint, and many more — for making this day so special. 💙

World Lung Cancer Day 2025
“Stronger Together: United for Lung Cancer Awareness”

Observed every year on August 1st, World Lung Cancer Day shines a light on one of the deadliest yet most misunderstood cancers. Many still believe it only affects smokers or the elderly, but that’s far from the truth. Lung cancer can impact anyone—young or old, smoker or not. That’s why it’s so important to challenge common myths. Misconceptions can delay diagnosis, discourage screening, and create unnecessary fear around treatment. The more we talk about the real facts, the better chance we have at catching it early and saving lives. Awareness truly makes a difference.

Statistics show that in the U.S. alone, over 226,000 people are expected to be diagnosed with lung cancer this year. Early detection saves lives. A simple low-dose CT scan can double five-year survival rates if caught at Stage I.
World Lung Cancer Day isn’t just a date on the calendar - it’s a call to action: Talk about it. Raise awareness. Share what you know about symptoms, risk factors, and why screening matters.

With early detection, community engagement, and policies promoting clean air and strong to***co control, we can improve lung health worldwide. Whether you’re a healthcare provider, policymaker, or a concerned community member—your voice could help save a life.
