Happy Hanukkah from the JRF!

As we celebrate the Festival of Lights, we also honor our own beginnings. The JRF was founded as a Jewish organization rooted in the values of community, compassion, and justice—principles that continue to guide our mission today as we serve and uplift families across Middlesex County.

May the lights of Hanukkah bring warmth, hope, and joy to all who celebrate.

From our JRF family to yours, we wish you a very Happy Hanukkah! 🕎

Today on International Human Rights Day, at the JRF we reaffirm a simple truth: human rights shape our daily lives in ways we often don’t see—and access to everyday essentials like healthcare, housing, food, education, and economic opportunity is a right, not a privilege.

This year, the United Nations’ theme is “Our Everyday Essentials.” The theme aims to reaffirm the values of human rights and re-engage people by showing how they shape our daily lives, even in ways we may not notice.

As a Community Action Agency and Federally Qualified Health Center, the Jewish Renaissance Foundation is committed to responding to the needs of our community with dignity, compassion, and action.

🔸Community Action Agencies help individuals and families overcome barriers to stability through job training, housing counseling, small business support, and partnerships that amplify local impact.

🔸Federally Qualified Health Centers ensure access to quality healthcare regardless of a person’s race, gender, or ability to pay—serving as a lifeline for underserved and marginalized communities.

At the JRF, we honor the principle that everyone deserves the “everyday essentials” to live healthy, empowered, and fulfilling lives—and every day, we put in the work to make that a reality.

From November 8–15, JRF AmeriCorps members joined forces with partners across New Jersey to support the Community Food Bank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) in Union County—one of the state’s largest hunger-relief organizations, distributing over 90 million meals annually through a network of more than 800 pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.

Thanks to the incredible collective dedication of NJ AmeriCorps members, we saw an outstanding volunteer turnout at the CFBNJ Hillside Food Bank headquarters, with AmeriCorps members filling 86 volunteer shifts throughout the week. Alongside our JRF AmeriCorps team, members and program directors from multiple partner sites showed up day after day—demonstrating what true commitment to community looks like.

The JRF AmeriCorps members and Program Director, Tawayna Bailey, were proud to work shoulder-to-shoulder with AmeriCorps Members and Program Directors from Zufall Health, NJDEP, Rutgers Co-op Food Waste, and NJCDC, as well as critical NJ offices including:
⭐ NJ National Guard
⭐ Office of Emergency Management
⭐ The NJ Commission – Governor’s Office of Volunteerism

To AmeriCorps Members—at JRF and across the state—your service is inspiring. We are deeply grateful for every hour, every shift, and every act of care that helped feed New Jersey families.

🍁 Happy Thanksgiving from the Jewish Renaissance Foundation! 🍁

We pause with gratitude for our community—families, partners, staff, and supporters who help us continue our mission to break the cycle of poverty and uplift those who need it most.
This season reminds us that hope grows when communities come together, and we are deeply thankful for everyone who walks beside us in service, compassion, and solidarity.

May your day be filled with warmth, comfort, and the company of those you love.

📢 Please note: The JRF offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in observance of the holiday. We will reopen the following business day.

Our Cohort 6 YEP students, under the direction of Precious Ojeda, LEAP Coordinator and SBYSP Program Assistant, participated in World Series Innovation Day! 💡

They joined a virtual session with PayPal, where they engaged in hands-on activities designed to help them brainstorm and refine solutions for their innovative business ideas.
Following their participation in the Virtual PayPal Innovation Day on Tuesday, 11/18/2025, our young entrepreneurs received recognition from NFTE, and our very own Precious Ojeda received a special Teacher Appreciation shout-out—highlighting our students’ strong engagement and the collaborative work happening through the program.

Our students had a wonderful experience and walked away inspired. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect them with partners who support their growth, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit.

We can’t wait to see what’s next for our YEP students—where will their brilliant minds take them?

Thank you Precious for all you do!

When SNAP benefits went undistributed and Perth Amboy schools closed for fall break in early November, we knew our families needed us. 💛 Immediately, the Bayside Family Success Center (FSC) prepared and delivered 50 emergency food kits to children and their families.

A huge thank-you to our Parent Advisory Board and the Step Up student volunteers who showed up with open hearts to unload, sort, and pack food—ensuring families had enough to get through the week until schools reopened.

In challenging moments, even a small glimmer of hope can make all the difference. Bayside FSC, a program of the JRF, will continue advocating for our community and connecting families with the resources they deserve.

If you or someone you know needs food assistance, please visit the County’s Healthy Food Map to find a food pantry or soup kitchen nearby:

Happy World Children’s Day! 💙

At the Jewish Renaissance Foundation, we believe strong communities begin with strong children. In the communities we serve, we see every day how children shape the strength, resilience, and hope of their families.

Through programs like Bayside Family Success Center, we support parents and caregivers with the resources they need to help their children thrive: free activities, parental leadership opportunities, diapers, food, and a welcoming space where families feel seen and supported.

Through programs like School Base Youth Services and Step-Up, we provide our growing youth with year-round intervention and supportive services that are holistic, promotive, and protective of healthy adolescent development and well-being.

Today, we honor the children who inspire us and the families who fight every day to give them a brighter, healthier future. The family truly begins with the child—and we’re proud to walk alongside our community as they grow, learn, and thrive. 🌟
