Did you know children have at least one cavity by the time they start school! It’s essential to instill good oral health habits and help children brush their teeth until they can do it on their own. Yet, it can be difficult for children to clean out all of the crevices on their molars - that’s where sealants come in!

At Edisto Family Dental, we recommend that children get sealants at the time their first adult molars erupt; this is typically around the age of 6. Sealants have significantly reduced tooth decay in children’s back teeth, and the process is trouble-free as this can be done at your child’s regular dental check-up.
