Bassett Healthcare Network's Board of Directors has named Robert Hanft as its newly elected chair. Hanft, who joined Bassett's Board of Directors in 2020, is serving a three-year term which began on July 11.

Robert Hanft, former executive of J.P. Morgan and current senior adviser with Strategic Financial Services in Utica, has been elected chair of Bassett Healthcare Network's Board of Directors.

We’re pleased to share that Ying Shao, DPM, has joined Bassett Healthcare Network as an Attending Physician with Orthopedics – Podiatry at Bassett Oneonta Specialty Services, Bassett Tri-Town Specialty Services, and O’Connor Hospital. Welcome to Bassett!

Dr. Shao earned her medical degree from New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York, NY. Her residency took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital in Binghamton, NY. She is certified by The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, The American Board of Podiatric Medicine, and The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Dr. Shao provides care to patients 13 years and older, with a variety of foot care needs, including foot pain, foot deformities, foot fractures, diabetic wound management, and more. We are excited to share that A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta has opened a new universal inpatient care unit! The area houses 8 beds and contains acuity-adaptable rooms, which means each patient room has the resources to accommodate a wide range of care needs.

The benefits of expanding space at Fox are twofold - we're making sure our patients can stay closer to home in a private setting while keeping intensive care unit (ICU) beds open in Cooperstown for the most critically ill patients.
