Otsego Academy has been super busy this past month! Tonight, they put their fitness skills to the test with Zumba, treadmill workouts, and the elliptical. 💪🏼

They wrapped up the evening by working together to create a beautiful charcuterie board — a true team masterpiece!

We love partnering with National Down Syndrome Society on programs and initiatives that can lead to healthy benefits.

This , we're highlighting a group of 6 women with Down syndrome that graduated from Otsego Academy and completed the NDSS 321𝘨𝘰!® program. 👏

Otsego Academy is a two-year post-secondary program for young adults with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities. Students work on building independent living, employment, and self-advocacy skills. 321𝘨𝘰! helped take their Health & Wellness curriculum to the next level. 🥕 Graduates loved the emphasis on independent choice-making with the easy-to-use tracking chart, the inclusion of healthy recipes and educational materials, and the easy to follow workout routines. 💪

Before the school year came to a close and summer break officially began, our students stepped out in style for one unforgettable night. 💃🕺

Prom was filled with laughter, dazzling outfits, unforgettable dance moves, and memories that will last a lifetime. From heartfelt moments with friends to singing their favorite songs on the dance floor, they truly danced the night away and celebrated the end of an amazing year in the best way possible.

We’re so proud of how far they’ve come—and we can’t wait to see them again in September for another incredible year! 💫

This morning, our Otsego Academy students had another opportunity to share the poetry they’ve been working on throughout the year at The Gatehouse in Morris. It was a joyful and inspiring morning as students read aloud their original works—poems about vibrant colors, beloved dogs, favorite movie characters, and creative takes on haikus.

They were warmly welcomed by Gatehouse staff, members of the local community, and friends from the village who came out to support their hard work. It was a proud moment for our students, who have grown so much as writers this year.

With this year’s writing journey coming to a close, our students are already looking forward to continuing their poetry and storytelling when they return in the fall.

Our OA Crew had a great trip to Howe Caverns and was featured in the Visitors' Spotlight, a regular feature that shares the wonderful visitors that come to see the famous caves from all around the world! Thank you Howe Caverns for sharing our Academy students' stories!

Meet Kyle, Kaiya, Emma, and Tyler from Upstate New York. In the quiet hills of Otsego County, there's a special place where individuality and potential shines through in every smile and every step forward. It's called Pathfinder Village, a community built on the belief that everyone deserves the chance to live, learn, and thrive, no matter their challenges. Among the vibrant residents of Pathfinder are these four remarkable individuals. Each one of them brings a unique light to this inclusive community. Pathfinder is a place where people with disabilities come together to support, grow, and uplift one another. Pathfinder it isn’t just a place, it’s a purpose. Kaiya lit up when asked about her experiences while living at Pathfinder. She said, “We do some pretty awesome stuff,” What stands out most to her isn’t just the activities or the beautiful campus, it’s the sense of belonging. “I love it here because we’re all like-minded people. We understand each other.” Many residents are attending Otsego Academy, a college experience offered through Pathfinder. It teaches skills for independence, offering an education not just in academics, but in life itself. Whether it’s learning how to cook, finding a job, or managing their own daily needs, the students are turning their dreams into everyday victories. Pathfinder is gearing up for one of the most anticipated events of the year! Splash Path, a colorful 5K run that celebrates ability, community, and inclusion. It is an open event offered to the community. No one is left behind. No one is judged. Everyone is celebrated. Kaiya has a powerful message for the world. “Everyone has a disability in some way,” she says. “But if we put our minds to it, we can learn to live with with our disabilities. We can learn to cope, and even overcome.” One thing the group wants to tell the world is, “We believe in a world beyond labels, a world where people are accepted just as they are. A world where differences don’t divide, they unite. Where independence isn’t just a goal, it’s a journey walked together. A place where love, respect, and acceptance are not ideals, they are daily acts.” Thank you so much for visiting! 🫶🏼❤️

🎉 The Otsego Academy students wrapped up their semester-long project with the students from 's Recreation and Sports Management Department last week. 🏅 Although the weather was not cooperative, the Academy students and EDD athletes from the region participated in fun activities focused on speed, balance, and ball skills. They had a blast and all received commemorative medals at the end of the day. Way to go, everyone! 🌟

Colgate Leadership Week Day 5, that’s a wrap! Otsego Academy and Colgate students enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by our awesome ancillary staff and talked about their favorite parts of the past week. Some tears were shed and our new friends will be missed!
