When Veronica started PT, she couldn’t run more than half a mile without hip and knee pain.

Now?! She just completed her first half marathon at Zion—strong, confident, and pain-free. 💪

💥Knee pain! Runners! Patellar Tendinitis! Oh my😬

Decline squats are great for all of the above and general quadriceps strengthening. We particularly love them for those with front of the knee pain sometimes referred to as “jumper’s knee” or tendinitis. The *slow* lowering, eccentric control, helps to stimulate tendon healing without excessive strain. Starting with a shallow depth and *slowly* progressing to parallel or 90 degrees is crucial!

Note: Dr. Katie here is performing a narrow base squat to purposefully stress the knee in a safe manner. A wider stance can be had for higher, acute pain levels or for more hip engagement.
