Stephen Joseph Cusack was born November 30, 1952 and passed away December 10, 2024. He was the fourth of eleven children born to Hank and Ella Mae Cusack. He was born in Oklahoma City, Ok and lived his entire life in the area.
In 1975, Steve married Genita Clark, his wife of 49 years. Also in 1975, he opened Cusack Equipment Company, his business he owned until 2016. His business remained successful over the years largely due to Steve's strong work ethic and the way he treated people. His employees were respected, friends, and part of a team. He loved talking to customers and provided them with excellent customer service and friendship. In fact, Cusack Equipment Co. received numerous awards for outstanding customer satisfaction.
In 1980, Steven and Genita welcomed the birth of their only child – Jillian Marie Cusack. No daddy ever loved his daughter as much as Steve loved Jill. He became the world's best grandpa in 2009 when his only grandchild, Evan Jospeh Leatherbee, was born. Evan loved his "Daddo" as much as Steve loved his "little guy".
Steve loved spending time with his family and friends. Among other things that made him happy were raising his cattle and going to casinos. He was a member and a past director in the Cleveland County Cattlemen's Association. Along the way in his life, he raised some buffalos and owned winning racehorses.
Steve was one-of-a-kind. He was vibrant, hardworking, talkative, well-respected, and very generous. Sometimes opinionated and outspoken; nevertheless, he was always "Steve".
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers – Charlie and Eddy. Steve is survived by his wife Genita, daughter Jill, son-in-law Tom Leatherbee, and grandson Evan Leatherbee.
His surviving siblings are Richard, Frances (and her husband Terry Gray), Davey, Al (and his wife Sandra), Mark, Mary Anne, Ronnie (and his wife Shannon), Donnie (and his wife Sandi). They will all miss their brother Stevie.
Although we will all deeply miss him so much, there is comfort knowing he is now free from the pain and suffering he endured from dementia. Thanks to Oklahoma Palliative and Hospice Care for helping us through this journey.
