Welcomed the sweetest little bub with Midwife Brandy Harris last week at the OKC Birth Center 💖 It was such an honor to be their Midwifery Assistant and Child Birth Educator 🥰
This mama was so brave and present in her birth. It was beautiful to watch her rock her birth with such calm power after putting so much intention into preparing for the big day during pregnancy.

Last Thursday…

It’s hard to put into words. The relationship that grows here in this space. Unlike anything — Midwifery.

Some evening appointments dinner was eaten after a long day and a 1 hour drive. Conversations about life were had and tears being shed while others were sharing laughs and business as usual. One thing we never did was end our visit before the hour was up. It was impossible. 🩷

To care for this family through two very different pregnancies, labors and births was an honor.
Their first experience was impacted by medical factors that took them to hospital for birth. With that came it’s own set of challenges and needs.

To see them come back ready and exceed their own expectations is not something we will ever forget.

This week, I attended my last birth at the and it was a beautiful, BA water birth where mama facilitated her own crowning with such power and love 💜 Welcome, Welcome little one!!

I am forever thankful to all of the Oklahoma families who have welcomed me into their birth journeys as their doula, student midwife, or midwifery assistant. My heart will always carry each of your incredible stories. What an honor and a privilege to witness over 130 little humans enter this world 🥹🥰

I am also thankful for all of the midwives, Doulas, IBCLCs, photographers, and other health and wellness professionals that I have had the opportunity to work alongside in Oklahoma! I will be rooting for your continued success as you work to empower Oklahoma families 💖

I have one last midwifery assistant birth for a home birth family left in Oklahoma before my family and I begin our next new adventure and move to New England 🤯 what an adventure this has been 🥹😭💜

The words “failed” do not belong anywhere in conversation about pregnancy, birth or postpartum 🙅🏽‍♀️

We have midwives, hospitals, birth centers, OBGYN’s and MFMs for good reason! In a percentage of cases, they are all very much needed 🧑🏼‍⚕️👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏾‍⚕️ we as birth workers and families are GRATEFUL for these resources being readily available to families when they are truly needed.

The #1 cause of home birth transfers is maternal exhaustion. This is why it is essential to rest, hydrate and nourish your body during early labor. A hospital transfer from a homebirth is by no means a failure. It is the responsible, proper use of the resources that are available to keep families safe. Please don’t place this in a negative light.💜💡

One reason I am so passionate about out of hospital midwifery care is because it can be so family centered 💜
Instead of families working around hospital/provider policies, we work to center them in their pregnancy through postpartum experience. Postpartum can be so calming and family centered just like this beautiful photo from

One of my favorite moments to witness as a student midwife or doula is the celebratory moment when all the hard work pays off and the family realizes, “We did it! Baby is here!” 🥹😍💖
