When is it time for counseling?
-
So often, we wait until the weight feels too heavy…
until communication breaks down…
until hearts feel hardened.
-
But Scripture reminds us that drifting happens quietly—and God, like the shepherd, lovingly pursues what has wandered.
-
In our latest blog, we share how this truth applies to both our relationships and our personal lives.
“In an abundance of counselors there is safety.” (Proverbs 11:14)
-
Seeking counsel isn’t failure—
it’s wisdom, humility, and a step toward restoration.
If you’ve been wondering, this may be your invitation to lean in, not pull away.

Meet Jesse Gall, M.A., ThM, LPC-C.

Jesse is a Christian counselor with graduate training in counseling, theology, and ministry leadership. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Oklahoma, along with a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.
-
During his time in Dallas, Jesse built a broad clinical foundation through his work at Dallas Life and Sparrow House Counseling in Highland Park. Serving in these distinct settings sharpened his clinical judgment, deepened his relational insight, and strengthened his ability to care for individuals and couples from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.
-
Outside of his counseling work, Jesse enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, family, and friends. He also enjoys reading, fitness, golf, and serving in his local church community.
-
Jesse’s counseling approach is thoughtful, tailored, and grounded in evidence-based care. He integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to meet the unique needs of each client, helping individuals and couples better understand their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and patterns of behavior. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, he works to understand each client’s story, goals, and challenges in order to provide care that is both personalized and effective.
-
He seeks to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their concerns openly, develop greater self-awareness, and build practical tools for meaningful, lasting change. Jesse also has specialized training in premarital and marital counseling through PREPARE/ENRICH, Christian PREP, RelateStrong, and Levels 1 and 2 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

Meet Laura, M.A., LPC,
Laura has been an Edmond resident since 1982 and has been married for 30 years. She is the proud mother of three boys, with 26 years of parenting experience. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Oklahoma State University and spent 26 years in the business world before returning to school to pursue her Master of Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, graduating in August 2018. She completed her candidacy hours at New Path Christian Counseling, Logan Community Services, and Grand Lake Mental Health Center.

Laura believes that while relationships can be a source of deep hurt, they can also be a place of profound healing. Her goal in therapy is to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can begin to heal and grow. She understands that God created us as relational beings and that through healthy relationships, He brings restoration and healing.

Her experience in community mental health has equipped her to work with children, parents, adolescents, young adults, and older adults. She believes that thoughts, beliefs, and emotions are deeply connected and influence behavior. Laura is passionate about strengthening individuals and families by integrating biblical truth into the counseling process, helping clients grow closer to God while developing practical skills for living a hope-filled and purposeful life. Rather than simply addressing symptoms, she seeks to identify and address the root causes of each client’s concerns, creating personalized treatment plans tailored to their unique needs.

Meet Donnie, a licensed marriage and family therapist, who began his counseling practice in 2011 after spending 20 years in the business world. From the start, his goal has been to meet people where they are and walk alongside them through life’s challenges. He considers it a tremendous privilege and honor to work with so many individuals, couples, and families, witnessing their growth while continuing to grow personally and professionally as well.
His focus includes working with blended families, couples, adults, and adolescents, particularly in the areas of anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. Donnie also has additional training and experience in s*x therapy and grief counseling. He enjoys premarital counseling and has extensive experience helping couples navigate the pain of infidelity, along with the many other challenges that marriage can bring.
In 2015, Donnie co-founded New Path 12:2 Christian Counseling with the desire to practice alongside like-minded Christian counselors. He is also the author of The Best Marriage Ever and was featured on News 9 from 2011–2023 with his relationship segment, “Ask Donnie.”
Donnie believes the most important element of effective counseling is the connection between therapist and client—one built on respect, safety, and a shared commitment to growth and movement toward a healthier place. He also believes that God is present in every session and trusts His guidance, wisdom, and direction in the counseling process.

We’re so excited to officially share something we’ve been working on behind the scenes… our new website is LIVE!

At New Path 12:2, our heart has always been to create a space where faith and clinical wisdom come together. Where real change isn’t just talked about, but experienced. This new site reflects that vision more clearly than ever, and we can’t wait for you to explore it.

The name New Path 12:2 comes from Romans 12:2, a reminder that lasting transformation begins with the renewal of the mind. While modern therapy emphasizes reshaping thought patterns, Scripture spoke of this truth long before. We believe in the power of both, working together, to bring healing, clarity, and direction.

Whether you’re navigating challenges in your marriage, personal struggles, or simply seeking growth, we’re here to walk alongside you with both compassion and truth.

We would be so grateful if you shared our new website on your social media to help us reach others who may need this kind of support 🤍

Thank you for being here, for trusting us, and for being part of this journey with us.

New Path 12:2 Christian Counseling was established in 2015 by Donnie Van Curen and Cynthia Chioco, where they believe true healing happens when professional counseling and biblical truth come together. Our mission is to provide compassionate, Christ-centered care that helps individuals, couples, and families find hope, healing, and restoration.

Life can bring seasons of stress, grief, relationship struggles, and emotional pain. In those moments, you don’t have to walk alone. Our counselors offer a safe and supportive environment where you can share openly while receiving guidance grounded in both clinical counseling practices and the wisdom of Scripture.

We are committed to helping clients grow spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, marriage challenges, life transitions, or personal growth, our goal is to help you experience renewed strength, clarity, and peace through Christ.

We believe God cares deeply about every part of your life, and counseling can be a meaningful step toward restoration, healing, and a deeper relationship with Him.

We’re excited to officially introduce our new website launching March 18. This space reflects the vision, heart, and mission behind New Path 12:2, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

The name New Path 12:2 is drawn from Romans 12:2, a verse that highlights the power of transformation through the renewal of the mind. It reflects the belief that real and lasting change begins internally—through the way we think, process experiences, and understand truth.

Interestingly, many modern therapeutic approaches focus on renewing thought patterns and reshaping the mind. Scripture spoke of this long before modern psychology emerged. At New Path 12:2, we embrace the harmony between biblical wisdom and sound therapeutic practices to help individuals move toward healing, clarity, and a renewed path forward.

Thank you for being here and for being part of this journey with us.
