Katrina Klohn MA, LPC, PMH-C
As a seasoned therapist of 20 years, my experience has allowed me to work in various facets of mental health, including home-based therapy, residential care, school, inpatient and an outpatient clinic setting. I have treated all ages, from little ones to geriatric adults. For over the past decade, my treatment focus has been working with marginalized communities dealing with significant trauma and chronic health issues. I believe there is no problem that is too big or too insignificant, that therapy can’t help.
I prefer to use an eclectic approach to treating clients due to my belief that there is not one approach that will fit everyone, however; I do particularly find Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strength Based and Mindfulness approaches most useful in my work. I also recognize the significance of the therapeutic rapport and cannot overstate the value of this relationship as a catalyst to therapeutic progress. I am very conscious of the fact that trust takes time and until that trust is established, lasting progress does not typically happen.
I also respect the client as the expert of their lives and lived experiences. True to most humans, there are times those experiences leave us feeling paralyzed, stuck and unable to function at our fullest potential. I view my role in therapy as a collaborator, here to help the client connect the dots and adjust the lens through which they see the world, to one that highlights problems as solvable, change as achievable, hope as obtainable and peace within reach.
