🩺 What Does a High-Risk HPV Result Mean? 🩺
If your Pap test shows high-risk HPV, it can feel worrying — but it does not mean you have cancer.
HPV is a very common virus, and many cases clear on their own within 1–2 years. High-risk types simply mean we’ll keep a closer eye on the cervix to watch for any cell changes over time.
📌 Depending on your results, your provider may recommend:
• Repeat Pap/HPV testing in 1 year, or
• A closer exam called a colposcopy
🛡️ Staying up-to-date on follow-up testing is the most important step — screening helps catch changes early.
If you’ve had an HPV result and have questions, we’re here to talk through it and support you 💕

🩺 “When I call to schedule an annual wellness exam… why do you ask what that means to me?” 🩺

We ask because “annual exam” means something different to everyone — and we want to make sure you’re scheduled for the right kind of visit and the care you actually need. 💗

For some patients, “annual” means:
• A Pap test or cervical cancer screening
• A breast exam
• Birth control check-in
• STI testing
• Lab work or symptom concerns
• A general wellness visit with discussion only

Each of these is billed and scheduled differently — and some may not be included in a preventive/wellness visit. Asking a few clarifying questions helps us:
✨ Book the correct appointment length
✨ Help avoid surprise costs or rescheduling

Our goal is always to make your visit accurate, helpful, and centered around what you came in for — so thank you for answering our questions when you call 💕

Hormone of the Week: Testosterone 💙

Testosterone isn’t just a “male hormone”—women have it too! It plays an important role in energy, mood, mental clarity, muscle strength, and libido.

During perimenopause and menopause, testosterone levels naturally decline, which can lead to fatigue, brain fog, low motivation, and decreased s*x drive. While estrogen often gets the spotlight, testosterone can be an important part of menopause hormone therapy for some women.

Struggling with menopause symptoms? At Edmond Women’s Clinic, we listen, educate, and create personalized hormone care plans to help you feel your best. 💙

Call us at 580-400-7997, send us a DM, or visit edmondwomensclinic.com to schedule an appointment.

🌸 What is Prolactin — and why would we check it?
Prolactin is a hormone made by your pituitary gland (a tiny gland in your brain). Its main job is to help your body produce breast milk after pregnancy, but it also plays a big role in your overall hormone balance.

⭐ Reasons we might check your prolactin:
• Irregular or missed periods
• Unexpected breast milk or ni**le discharge (even if you’re not pregnant or breastfeeding)
• Fertility concerns
• Low s*x drive
• Headaches or vision changes
• Symptoms of possible pituitary hormone imbalance
• To rule out a prolactinoma (a benign pituitary tumor) in people experiencing menopausal-like symptoms

When prolactin is too high, it can disrupt your other hormones — especially estrogen and progesterone — which can affect your cycles, mood, and overall health.

📍 A simple blood test can give us answers and help guide the right care plan. If you're dealing with symptoms that just don’t feel normal, we’re here to help you figure out what’s going on. 💛

🌸 Let’s Talk About BV (Bacterial Vaginosis)! 🌸
BV is very common and can cause vaginal odor, unusual discharge, itching, burning, and irritation.
🦠 Why does it happen?
It occurs when the normal balance of vaginal bacteria gets disrupted. Many women experience BV more than once.
💊 Treatment
BV is usually treated with a 7-day antibiotic course, and some women use boric acid suppositories to help prevent recurrences.
✨ What’s new?
Recent research shows that treating s*xual partners may reduce how often BV comes back, especially in women with frequent episodes.
🔬 Diagnosis
We diagnose BV with a quick vaginal swab and a look under the microscope.
If BV keeps returning, you’re not alone — and you do have options. 💗

🌸 Hormone of the Week: Estrogen
AKA: The Queen Bee of Your Body 👑

Estrogen keeps everything running smoothly—your mood, your cycle, your skin, your bones, and more! Think of her as the group-chat admin:
✨ Balanced = calm vibes
✨ Low = chaos
✨ High = extra chaos

During perimenopause and menopause, the Queen starts ghosting the chat—and that’s when the hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep drama roll in.

If the chaos feels overwhelming, you’re so not alone. Many women find relief with menopause hormone therapy (MHT). Others benefit from supplements, SSRIs, or even gabapentin—there’s no one-size-fits-all. Your well-being is our priority. 💗
Have questions? We’d be honored to help. Call us or schedule an appointment—let’s get you back to feeling like you again.
