WHAT IS NORMATEC COMPRESSION MASSAGE?
The NormaTec dynamic compression system is a modernized massage—both traditional and lymphatic drainage. The NormaTec system utilizes sequential pulsing of compressed air that massages, mobilize fluid, and evacuates lactic acid, carbon dioxide, inflammation, fat, toxins, and other byproducts. The system is also designed with a distal release, which prevents backflow.

Compression therapy is an effective method by which controlled pressure is applied to the extremities increasing blood flow and the efficiency of the lymphatic and venous systems. Traditionally, compression therapy uses socks or stockings, but Bodyworks uses newer technology like NormaTec to offer dynamic compression that utilizes compressed air to mobilize fluid and improve circulation.

Poor circulation occurs when blood vessels and arteries narrow, making it hard for blood to pass through. Compression therapy works by adding pressure to contracting areas of restricted flow, allowing the veins in the limbs to loosen. This loosening decreases venous pressure, reduces edema, and aids the body in moving blood towards the heart. It also engages “lymphatic flush”, which facilitates the removal of waste, swelling, and inflammation from the body.

Our Story

Karla Crouch - Owner & Instructor

An educator at heart, I bring a rich background in teaching and performance to my passion as a Pilates Instructor. I began taking Pilates twenty years ago (between Ballet classes) and fell in love with the mind-body connections then noticed vast improvement in my posture, alignment, strength and flexibility!

My private sessions at Bodyworks allow my clientele to focus on their specific physical needs and goals. There is nothing that I love more than helping others succeed! I provide my clients with an in-depth understanding of the movement associated with the human body whether they are looking for overall fitness and wellness or seeking relief from chronic pain. I focus on stability, mobility, flexibility and balance all while getting a well-rounded workout.

I have been Certified in STOTT Pilates for over 5 years and took ownership of the studio in summer of 2018. I am also a Fascial Movement Instructor, a CORE Athletic Conditioning & Performance Training Instructor and a Total Barre Instructor. I am happy to incorporate these fitness routines into sessions if my clients are interested.

Trina Blackstone - Instructor

I am a STOTT Certified Pilates Instructor with a dancing, swimming and Equestrian background. I'm a local girl with a degree from the University of Washington. I'm a shining example of what Pilates can do!

After a disabling car accident, I tried many rehabilitative modalities and therapies, but it was not until I discovered STOTT Pilates that I truly started to make progress towards recovery. My personal experience with physical limitations, chronic pain and the rehabilitative process gives me a unique insight into the individual exercise needs and goals of each person.

My favorite part of teaching is sharing in the successes of my clients, from the casual beginner to the experienced athlete, as they discover the remarkable changes in the body that STOTT Pilates can bring about!

Shar Kellett - Instructor

I have invested intensive study and training to become a certified instructor while actively pursuing continuing education and methods of Pilates training.

I am certified on the many pieces of Pilates apparatus and Mat instruction. I was first introduced to Pilates 17 years ago when the strain of being a gym rat for years began to take its toll on my joints. In a very short time, Pilates not only changed my body, but also it changed the way I felt. For the first time, I actually felt the deep muscles working, lengthening, and strengthening, without strain on my joints. Because of that, my whole body posture evolved. I felt taller, leaner, stronger and full of energy!

I pride myself on my ability to apply my Pilates training to assist each client in their understanding of the connection of mind and body; as well as a better understanding and respect for their bodies and their health.

My focus is to personalize and streamline each workout for maximum results.
