One of my greatest mentors once told me, “Why don’t you go teach others this way of life? You have it figured out, and you could help people get even better and longer-lasting results.”

When she said that, I was prepping for my first bodybuilding competition in 2013.

It was a phase of rapid weight loss that wasn’t balanced or sustainable.

But what she said stuck with me.

From there, I went on to have three babies and gained over 120 pounds.

I had a long road before I could even think about teaching anyone about health.

I struggle(D) with binge eating.

With negative thoughts about my body.

I would break free, then fall back again.

But one thing never left me—my desire to build a strong body and to see my muscles.

After babies, my goals shifted:

-How can I fix my bladder prolapse and incontinence so I don’t end up needing surgery?
- How can I bend down more easily to get on the ground and play with my kids?
-How can I fix my chronic SI joint pain, which started after an old knee surgery but was made worse by pregnancy?

This was the stuff that mattered.
So I founded Body Motion to heal women like me—and to heal myself.
I hired providers and trained our team to fix and change the patterns I was stuck in.

And when I found myself depleted, bogged down with excess weight, and left with deflated muscles after baby number 3, I knew the next phase of the business.

It wasn’t just about restoring women’s bodies and freeing them from pain.

It was about teaching them how to maintain those results for a lifetime—

You want to know why I invested in transforming myself after Jayla was born?

Because I didn’t feel good in my own skin.

I was catching every single cold and virus the kids brought home.
I dreaded family adventures, and vacations were never enjoyable—they just drained my energy even more.

All of this was a mirror of my internal health back then.
I wasn’t fueling my body for strength or making time to optimize myself.

I was simply surviving.
There was only one way out— by showing myself love through taking care of my body.

From there, everything about my life changed.

I started showing up for myself.
I started filling my own gas tank, then using that energy to pour back into myself—again and again.

And all of a sudden, I wasn’t the grumpy, exhausted mom raging at my children behind closed doors.

Don’t get me wrong—I still have to breathe through those four-year-old tantrums.

But the transformation happened because I unlocked my own energy.

Yes, I lost fat and dropped at least eight dress sizes (though honestly, I was living in yoga pants and stretchy waistbands, so who really knows my “true” pant size).
Yes, I built muscles.
Yes, I unlocked new levels of confidence I never knew were possible.

But here’s the truth: this happened because I invested in my pelvic floor and body health so I could keep up with lifting, walking, and cardio.

It happened because I tracked my macronutrients and stuck to a fueling plan—even on weekends.

And yes, I said f**k diet culture a long time ago.
This wasn’t about restriction.
This was health culture.
This was fueling a strong, healthy body.
This was essential so I didn’t end up the woman with osteoporosis and a hip replacement.

Because honestly—I already could barely wipe my own ass.

The change?

It’s actually more mental, more spiritual, more heartfelt than any physical transformation picture could ever show.

I remember waking up one day and realizing…
I had three kids depending on me.
I had ten employees depending on me.
And I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and scared.

Somewhere along the way, I had been so focused on giving to everyone else that I stopped giving anything to myself. And the weight of that reality hit me hard—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

But then came the turning point.

I made a choice—just for one month—to recommit to me. To show up for my health, my strength, and my future. And I’ll be honest: that first month was terrifying. I questioned if I could really do it, if it was even possible to put myself first.

But those 30 days changed everything.

That commitment gave me the momentum I needed to keep going. It led to losing 100 pounds, yes—but more than that, it gave me the strength, energy, and confidence to build the life of my dreams.

If I hadn’t started with those first 30 days, I never would have created the habits that carried me here.

And that’s why I believe in this so deeply. Because it’s never about the rest of your life. It’s about the next 30 days.

When you choose yourself—when you show up, even when it’s scary—you have no idea what doors you’re opening for your future.

Pelvic floor physical therapy is not
Inserting a finger telling someone to squeeze and hold and relax and seeing if they can do it.
Or bouncing & doing hip circles on a exercise ball.
But it is mapping out the muscles to find adhesions scar tissue, restrictions and determining the quality of the soft tissue and muscles and where those muscles refer tension or discomfort or pain.
It is connecting the dots for what symptoms are appearing in the patients life in their entire body and how that is playing into their everyday function and energy.
It's working diligently on these muscles to restructure the fibers and regenerate healthy cells and tissue. This is what builds a strong pelvic floor and core. Then you coordinate these muscles with the rest of the core.
So let's stop prescribing kegels and biofeedback and let's start making actual change to the pelvic floor so that women can feel good in their bodies and not be bogged down with back pain, sciatica, hip pain, pelvic pain and have their energy completely drained.
When I saw someone dealing with 8 years of pain yesterday and she already had been to Pelvic PT, I knew it may be a more challenging case.
I had every differential diagnosis lined up to help me determine exactly where these symptoms were coming from.
Let me tell you how easy this case was to crack. Everything boiling down to a perineal scar from 30 years ago. The scar tissue had grown significantly and was so dense and everything around the scar was in spasm. So knife like pain into the re**um and cervix were the result and she couldn’t sit down because of this. Now there will be more that I find as I dissolve the scar tissue and restructure the fibers. We will continue to assess as we do this vital work.
When this patient tried pelvic pt 8 years ago, this scar tissue should have been dealt with.
But when you have a pelvic pt only checking someone's ability to contract and relax a muscles and not doing a quality internal exam we end up with a women thinking her body is broken, pelvic pt doesn't work and suffering for the next 8 years. And inability to work because she can’t sit down. Add in the energy suck that chronic pain brings and let’s just say she ready to regain her vitality.
I don't blame the PT, many times its the lack of training and the system not allowing time for true examination and treatment.

It's Monday are you excited to go to work?

Are you waiting for that client to have a vaginal delivery or an easy c-section and find out how epically well she recovered because of the work you did as her pelvic floor physical therapist.

The dose of oxytocin that you get when you come in to emails from clients with their baby pictures from the weekend. Their gratitude when in a sincere state of bliss post delivery, is one of my favorite things about the Body Motion Birth Preparation Protocols.

I cannot begin to start to tell you that this fulfillment is worth every second of your career choice.

You were born to do this work.

A Healthy Pelvic Floor Requires Protein

Yesterday, someone asked me what they could do to support their pelvic floor. I had a lot of thoughts—but one simple, powerful answer stood out: eat more protein.

At 20 weeks pregnant, many women are protein deficient, and that directly impacts pelvic floor health. The pelvic floor has three layers of muscles that rely on protein for blood flow, flexibility, and proper movement. When you fuel those muscles with enough protein, your whole body benefits.

Here’s one of my favorite hacks to make it simple: I bulk prep lean meats, portion them into 4 oz serving-size bags, and freeze them. That way I can just grab and go. Sometimes I heat one up and toss it in a tortilla, other times I throw it on a salad. It keeps me hitting my protein goals, away from fast food, and leaves me feeling strong, satisfied, and nourished.
