Fighting childhood hunger by preparing and distributing healthy meals to local children. Founded by David Tevet, Owner, Ollies Restaurant.

More then 1 in 4 children in the United States do not receive nutritious food on a consistent basis. In Luzerne County, more then 10,500 children are food insecure. Children who lack a nutritionally balanced diet are more likely to exhibit behavior problems, poor school performance, and impaired cognitive development.

That’s why Dinners for Kids delivers meals directly to children who need them most. These meals provide consistency, care, and nourishment when it matters.

Help us deliver meals to children in NEPA! We urgently need volunteer delivery drivers to help ensure children in our community receive their dinners on time. Drivers pick up meals from Ollie's American Restaurant after 2:30 PM every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and deliver directly to children’s homes.

If you have the availability to help, even once a month, now is the time. Every route covered means a child receives a meal they are counting on. Please email Din4Kids@gmail.com to get started and help us meet this need.

Meet our volunteers! Rose and Jeff have been volunteering with Dinners for Kids for 15 years, delivering meals to children in Plymouth, Larksville, and Edwardsville about five times each month. They first heard about DFK through Plymouth classmates and saw it as a simple but meaningful way to give back to their community.

They were originally encouraged to get involved by Charles Dancheck (our recent Jim Haggerty Service Award recipient!) and have been making a difference ever since. Their commitment is a reminder that showing up consistently can change lives.

Our volunteer drivers are the final step in getting healthy meals to children who need them most. Some drive with a spouse, some bring their kids along, and others go solo, but all share the same goal of giving back.

Deliveries happen Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after 2:30 PM, with flexibility in how often you help. Even one route a month makes a difference. If you’re ready to get involved, email Din4Kids@gmail.com to learn more.

🚨 We are currently looking for volunteer delivery drivers on the West Side to help bring nutritious dinners directly to children’s homes. Dinners for Kids delivers meals every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and drivers pick up meals from Ollie’s Restaurant after 2:30 PM.

🎄✨ The Parade of Trees at Grotto Pizza Harvey's Lake is officially in full swing, and we are so grateful to Eye Care Specialists for decorating a beautiful tree in support of Dinners for Kids.

This annual tradition brings together local businesses to decorate trees for their chosen charities, with visitors casting votes through donations. Since its inception, the Parade has raised more than $598,000 for local causes, and we are honored to be among this year’s beneficiaries.

If you find yourself at Grotto Pizza in Harveys Lake this season, stop by, enjoy the festive display, and cast a vote for our tree. Every donation helps us continue feeding children right here in our community. 💛

Another week of nourishing meals headed to children in our community! 🍽

With nearly 300 meals delivered, 90 volunteer hours logged, and packing happening three times each week, our mission keeps moving because of people who care. Every box filled and every route driven helps ensure kids have what they need to grow, learn, and thrive.

Thank you to our volunteers, partners, and supporters who make this possible. Together, we are changing lives one meal at a time! 💛
