Thank you, Wilkes-Barre POWER, for spotlighting Dinners for Kids this month! Check out the blog post below to learn more about our mission to feed children right here in NEPA. 💚

Always having food ready to feed your children anytime they want it is something many parents don’t even think about.

However, once you really look at a local nonprofit such as Dinners For Kids, you realize the ability to feed your children healthy meals could actually be considered a luxury that, unfortunately, not every family in our county gets to experience.

Dinners For Kids is Wilkes-Barre POWER!’s featured nonprofit in November 2025 and was showcased at POWER’s monthly networking event last Wednesday!

That night at The Cobbler in Wilkes-Barre, POWER! members and guests got to hear from two Dinners For Kids board members, Shawna Williams, LSW and Tracey Shemo.

We caught up with Shawna to learn more about the behind-the-scenes and current goings-on with Dinners For Kids. Thanks to her for talking with us!

Fall Gathering 2025 Annual Dinner award winners, Charles Dancheck, recipient of The Jim Haggerty Service Award, and Sandy Insalaco, recipient of the Distinguished Advocate for Childhood Nutrition Award. Both are shining examples of generosity, service, and dedication to Dinners For Kids and our mission to end childhood hunger. Their time, commitment, and compassion continue to inspire all of us to give back and make a difference. We thank them both for everything they do for our community.
