Momentum Lactation was founded in 2017 with the goal of providing greater access to breastfeeding support in the Edwardsville and St. Alisa worked in the community in a hospital setting for many years and realized that many Mothers needed more support and information after they leave the hospital to be successful on their breastfeeding journey. With decades of experience supporting and educating new mothers through various modalities, and an expert in clinical lactation, she founded Momentum Lactation to include needed access and support missing in the hospital and community. Alisa works with physicians and other care providers in the community and has built a strong referral network in the area for a variety of breastfeeding and post partum issues and support. Families can now receive office, home or virtual visits in the early days at home, as well as a community of other moms in our monthly Breastfeeding Mom’s Meet Ups. Common types of issues addressed include, low milk supply, painful latch, baby weight loss, pediatrician concerns related to feeding or growth, getting a back to work plan and just managing the breastfeeding routine and lifestyle. We look forward to serving you to help you meet your breastfeeding goals along your personal journey.

In the early weeks, baby needs every drop you make—using a Haaka too soon can do more harm than good.

Overuse can lead to oversupply, which increases the risk of breast inflammation, clogged ducts, or even inflammatory mastitis. It can also create a cycle of depending on the pump, which comes with its own issues.

✅ A better approach:
✨ wait until baby is back to birth weight
✨ supply is regulated (usually around 1 month),
✨ feeding is going smoothly.
✨ use after baby nurses both sides, as a true manual pump

Remember, mama—your milk is for your baby first, and freezer second. ✨ 💡

New moms often worry that their baby isn’t getting what they need because they want to return to the breast frequently.

In the first month, babies are learning what hungry and full feels like, and how to fill their tummies up.

Their intake volumes varies every feeding depending how hungry they are. Each time they latch, they’re getting exactly what they need, as breastmilk is bioavailable and constantly adjusting to meet their specific growth, hydration, and immunity needs.

You can expect them to clusterfeed weekly as your supply continues to increase and regulate, and then at one month it never increases again.

No two feedings are teh same - just as no two babies are either!

If you have concerns about feeding, nothing beats individualized support! Book now!

So many moms have told me lately—“I just wish I had more connection with other moms who understand.” 💛

That’s exactly why I’m starting a postpartum support group.
Our first gathering will focus on identity shifts in motherhood—because becoming a mom changes everything, and it’s okay to grieve your old self while learning who you are now.

If you’ve been craving connection, community, and a safe space to talk about the real side of parenthood… this is for you. ✨
