Today we pause to honor and remember the families who have borne the ultimate sacrifice. Gold Star Mothers and Families carry the courage and love of their fallen service members every day.

At the Road Home Program, we stand with you in gratitude and remembrance. Your loved one’s legacy lives on in every step we take to support our veteran and military community.

Our Road Home Program leadership team — Joseph Zolper, Dr. Brian Klassen, and Dr. Philip Held — recently attended the Veteran Wellness Alliance Fall Meeting 2025 at the George W. Bush Presidential Center Institute in Dallas.

The summit brought together leading veteran-serving organizations, including Wounded Warrior Project , Team Red, White & Blue, Home Base, Emory Healthcare Veterans Program , UCLA Operation Mend, Institute for Veterans and Military Families - IVMF , and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, to strengthen partnerships and improve the continuum of care for veterans nationwide.

Dr. Held also presented on AI mental health innovations and Socrates 2.0, while the team connected with Brothers After War Director Jake Rademacher to plan a future collaboration in Chicago.

We are grateful to the Bush Center and our VWA partners for continuing to lead the way in supporting the veteran community.

Yesterday, our Road Home Program outreach team and veteran staff had the incredible opportunity to step onto Wrigley Field for batting practice before enjoying the game from a box suite — thanks to the generosity of Cubs Charities.

We’re grateful not only for the unforgettable experience, but also for the $10,000 grant awarded to support local veterans and their families in Chicago and across Illinois.

A special thank you to Justin Turner, who took time to meet with our team, share his passion for supporting veterans, and gift us signed baseballs. His foundation is making a real difference tackling veteran homelessness in California.

We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing our partnership with the Chicago Cubs to serve those who have served. ⚾🇺🇸

Chicago is celebrating Victory Monday after the Chicago Bears’ first win of the season 🐻⬇️!
Caleb Williams threw 4 touchdowns, and The Wiener's Circle is giving away hot dogs to keep the good vibes rolling 🌭.
We like to think of it as Mental Health Monday too — a reminder that joy, laughter, and connection are wins worth celebrating. 💙🧡

Our Road Home Program team attended the IACVAC Winter Conference in East Peoria, Illinois.

Mathius Carter and Summer Padaoan presented to more than 150 Veteran Service Officers representing Veteran Assistance Commissions across the state.

The event was an opportunity to showcase the Brave Program, connect with Illinois Joining Forces, and build stronger referral relationships that will directly support Illinois veterans and their families.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to engage with so many leaders across the veteran community and look forward to continuing these important partnerships.

Our team was proud to represent the Road Home Program at the 126th Veterans of Foreign Wars National Convention in Columbus, Ohio.

Mathius Carter hosted our resource table in partnership with Wounded Warrior Project and Warrior Care Network, connecting with thousands of veterans and over 100 veteran-serving organizations.

From networking with department leadership across multiple states to engaging in media interviews, this convention gave us a national platform to share our mission and expand referral pipelines.

Our team traveled north for the Alaska Outreach Trip 2025, visiting both Fairbanks and Anchorage. 🇺🇸❄️

Alejandra Hernandez and Chris Miller connected with veteran service organizations, mental health teams, chaplains, and active-duty providers while also attending the Fairbanks Stand Down.

We also hosted two dinners with Wounded Warrior Project alumni and staff, building stronger connections to ensure that Alaska’s veterans and families know the Road Home Program is here for them.

Highlights included:
✅ New referral streams from Anchorage & Fairbanks Vet Centers
✅ Collaboration opportunities with Chris Kyle Hospital & JBER Behavioral Health
✅ Stronger ties with University of Alaska partners, VFW posts, and local VSOs

SEPTEMBER 1 1 : PATRIOT DAY

Today, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and aboard United Flight 93. September 11, 2001, remains a solemn reminder of our nation’s vulnerability — and an enduring testament to the strength, courage, and unity of the American people.

In the days and months that followed, first responders ran toward danger, communities came together in extraordinary solidarity, and the flag stood as a symbol of resilience. That spirit continues to guide us today.

At the Road Home Program, many of us remember exactly where we were on that day. Those moments shaped not only our own lives, but also our shared mission to support service members, veterans, and families who answered the call in its aftermath.

We will never forget.

The Wall Street Journal recently published an opinion piece by our own Dr. Brian Klassen, highlighting the importance of evidence-based, non-medication treatments for PTSD.

At the Road Home Program, we’ve provided 200,000+ hours of intensive psychotherapy to veterans and their families — almost always without pills. Through trauma-focused care, we’ve helped thousands move beyond the fog of overmedication and toward healing.

While the full article is behind a paywall, here’s the key takeaway:
➡️ Veterans don’t need more medication — they need access to effective, intensive treatment programs like ours.

Successful nonpharmacological treatments are available outside the VA system.

This week, our outreach team members Katia Newell and Modie Lavin are on the ground in Wyoming (Sept. 8–12) connecting with Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) and attending the NASDVA Conference.

From committee and business meetings to VA updates and the Governor’s Reception, the agenda is full — and our team is there to make sure veterans and their families know about the care available through the Road Home Program.

📍 Keep an eye out for them in Cheyenne and across the state!
