Soul Legacy Therapy

Soul Legacy Therapy Soul Legacy Therapy provides counseling and coaching to individuals and couples in El Dorado County and surrounding areas. Let's be honest.

Most peoples idea of a good time is not sitting in a therapy office exploring our inner most thoughts and feelings with a stranger. Therapy can be a completely different experience depending on the people involved. Our style of therapy involves getting to know my client and helping them use their strengths to improve their life all while keeping it real, relevant and with humor. Often client's ove

rlook their own strengths rather identifying with their diagnosis, failings, or past. Clearly you already know that you would like to improve something in your life. Let us help you with that fight. We are here to fight for you when you can't see where to fight for yourself.

The age-old debate of whether pain or patience makes for a better teacher still lingers in our minds today.

While some may argue that experiencing hardships firsthand can lead to valuable lessons learned, others believe taking their time with steady practice yields more desirable results.

Personally I’ve learned amazing lessons from a mix of both. What are your thoughts?

Silence screams the truth...

That is one of my favorite sayings. It is when we quiet down that we are able to reflect, process and the path seems clearer. Spent the morning in a quiet place on the property with prayer and a cup of coffee. A couple of the biggest takeaways from this morning are grace and gratitude.

Grace is not always easy. I find that with current times I find myself shaking my head with, what I’m sure is, a WTF look on my face. If you know me you know I don’t hide it well when it happens. Grace HAS to be applied to keep the dialog going to get to a place of better understating. Notice I did not say agreement or acceptance. I said understanding - the goal being to understand another’s perspective that might be whole heartedly different from your own. With grace we at least can try and see though their lenses and thus obtain a clearer picture from their perspective.

Gratitude is a bit easier for me generally however every now and then takes a “nudge” of a reminder to slow down to enjoy all of the blessings surrounding you in any given moment. When my children were toddlers I remember *complaining* about how the dishes/clean up/cracker carnage seemed excessive and was exhausting.

Edit to add: If you are a mom of a toddler you know what I’m talking about - that cracker carnage could feed a third world country.. how do they miss their mouth so damn much?!?

Anyway - back to my point. Someone offered me a different perspective. If you have dishes, they had food. If you are cleaning up with warm water you can pay your electric bill. If you have crackers left over that have hit the floor, go feed the damn ducks at the park. Brilliant advice that I still use to this day. There is ALWAYS room to find gratitude in even the small things. We just have to slow down, get quiet and look around.

How will you offer grace or find a little extra slice of gratitude today? I’ll put mine in the comments.

Take a moment out of your day ladies to remember what a badass YOU are. Take space for yourself and listen to this. You were not put on this earth to be tamed.

I’m a proud mama of two daughters. They are always watching to see how I respond and react fo the world around us. How we treat people while honoring ourself, our family and our God, sets the stage for their future. If I can give them the gift of being brave, kind and loving not only to themselves but others - then I will feel like I have won and so will the world around them 💕

This giant canvas tarp hangs in the center of my home. It has The Tale Of Two Wolves written on it. With our current times I feel like it could not be more relevant. Everyday I stop to read it.

It has created many discussions with our children, family and friends prior to the requirement of social distancing. Even with our lives turned upside down and seemingly new requirements everyday, we have a choice. We have a choice of which “wolf” to feed.

As for me and my family this morning - we are choosing to feed the “good wolf” along with a extra slice of Banana Bread from Cravings by Chrissy Teigen. I mean measurements for baking are now part of homeschool math right?

Be safe, love one another and feed the good ❤️

Lots of questions coming in about the Hold Me Tight Workshop. I will post a few answers to the common ones here:

Where is the workshop held?
-Workshop is held at a 5 acre estate in Rescue, CA. This location is approximately 40 minutes from Downtown Sacramento, 1.5 hours from South Lake Tahoe and 2 hours from San Fransisco.

What will we be doing the day/s of the workshop?
-The workshop is very interactive. Think workbook, powerpoint, videos, activities around the property. You will be up and moving around the grounds with lots to explore.

What do we need to bring?
-Honestly... just yourselves. We have the rest taken care of. All of your food and supplies will be provided by us. Of course if you have any special dietary needs or need a special accommodations for something don't hesitate to ask. We do recommend comfortable clothing and shoes so that you are able to walk around the property and participate with ease in activities.

Speaking of accommodations...

Does the workshop fee include lodging?
-No the workshop does not include lodging. In order to keep the cost down we do not offer or require specific lodging accommodations. Some people are local and prefer to go home on Friday night others, even if local, prefer to make a weekend out of it and stay at a Hotel or Bed and Breakfast. We have some great near by recommendations should you need one.

What makes this workshop different from others?
-You are not in it alone. During the workshop you have several clinicians available to "unstick you" if you and your partner get stuck trying to work though a activity. That is what makes this weekend so successful - We are here to show you both how learning these new skills and communicating with connection can feel safe, happy and whole again in your relationship.

Hopefully that answers some of the common questions asked. If we missed anything post below and we will answer.

(Shhh - I don't want your coworkers to get jealous if your FB surfing while you're at work but I'll include a couple of pictures of the property so you can see where you'll be hanging out and connecting with each other for the weekend)
