Our member, Jeff Wakamiya, asked to get this incredible information out about a solar grant coming available June 2 in California. It's expected all funds will be gone on that same day so you are encouraged to apply now. Here's the word directly from Jeff:
Typically, anyone offering "free solar" or "no cost solar" is just selling a product. This is different. The SGIP or Self Generation Incentive Program has 280 million dollars in funding for low to moderate income earners to get true no cost solar, including a battery. The funds become available June 2nd, and will very likely also be depleted on June 2nd. This means all necessary paperwork would need to be completed prior to program launch.
The ONLY qualification is to be low/ moderate income. This is defined as less than 80% of AMI (Area Median Income)
While I would not expect anyone in our group to qualify since APB members are successful business owners, my guess is everyone in this group knows one or more people who would qualify.
Please take a moment to have these people in your life contact me directly via text at 916-212-0011 in the next few days and I can briefly provide more details and help them fill out an application.
Summary: for the next few days, I can help people get TRUE NO COST SOLAR/ BATTERY. The only way to qualify is income based. Program opens (and likely closes June 2nd) as it is only $280 million statewide. This means only about 5,500- 7,000 households are likely to be given this opportunity before funding runs out. I have identified an installer who seems to have streamlined the process and can help people apply.
Side note: our current administration has a bill which has already passed the House, and now rests with the Senate. This bill would eliminate the 30% federal tax credit for solar, and the way it is currently written, a system would need to be operational before Dec 31st of this year. To anyone who has ever considered saving money with solar: now is the time to collect information and make an information decision to give yourself the chance to claim the 30% dollar for dollar tax credit before it may be gone. If this bill passes, that gives a couple/few month timeframe to begin a project if it is to comfortably complete before the deadline.
