Unpredictable spring weather in Missouri can bring rain, fog, and changing road conditions. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, weather and roadway conditions play a role in many crashes this time of year.

-Slow down on wet roads
-Increase your following distance
-Use headlights in rain or fog
-Stay alert and avoid distractions

Nice weather makes it tempting to hit the gas, but speeding is still a leading cause of serious crashes in Missouri.

Keep our community safe:

✔️ Follow posted speed limits
✔️ Slow down on rural roads and curves
✔️ Adjust for weather, traffic, and road conditions
✔️ Leave early so you’re not rushing
✔️ Remember: Arriving safely is more important than arriving quickly

Speed limits exist to protect everyone, including you.

The Cedar County Health Department has recently been notified of cases of pertussis (whooping cough) in Cedar County and surrounding areas. We would like to share a little information here to help keep everyone healthy and informed.

Today, our staff at the Cedar County Health Department were treated to beverages from Snodgrass Greenhouse & Main Street Coffee, generously provided by Cedar County Memorial Hospital. This kind gesture was greatly appreciated and meant a lot to our team.

We’re thankful for the continued support, teamwork, and kindness shown to public health in our community. Moments like these remind us how fortunate we are to work alongside neighbors who truly care about Cedar County.

The Cedar County Health Department has installed a Narcan (naloxone) distribution box outside our office for free public access. This box is property of the Cedar County Health Department and is available during and after business hours.

Narcan saves lives by reversing the effects of an opioid overdose. Anyone may obtain Narcan, including:

-Individuals at risk for opioid overdose

-Family members, friends, or others who may be in a position to help someone experiencing an overdose

This distribution is provided under the Missouri statewide standing order for naloxone, authorized by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) pursuant to Section 195.206, RSMo, and issued by Heidi B. Miller, MD.

Special thanks to Laura Woody for initiating this effort. Through her fentanyl awareness work in Cedar County and surrounding areas, her advocacy helped make this life-saving resource available to our community.

📞 Important: If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately and administer Narcan as directed. Additional doses may be given every 2–3 minutes if there is little or no response.
