Fireworks can be a fun way to celebrate, but they also come with serious risks. Each year, thousands of people—many of them children—are injured due to fireworks. Keep your celebration safe and spark-free with these simple tips:

- Leave it to the pros. The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional display.
- Keep water nearby. Have a bucket of water or a hose ready in case of fire or malfunction.
- Supervise children at all times. Never let children handle or light fireworks—even sparklers burn hot enough to cause serious burns.
- Only light fireworks one at a time, and back up to a safe distance quickly.
- Never relight a “dud.” Wait 20 minutes and soak it in water.
- Use fireworks outdoors only in a clear area away from homes, dry grass and flammable materials.
- Don’t point or throw fireworks at people, animals, vehicles or structures.

Injuries from fireworks often involve burns to the hands, face and eyes. If an injury does occur, seek medical attention right away. Always call 911 in an emergency.

The Cedar County Health Department has confirmed a positive case of measles in our area.

To help prevent the spread, please call El Dorado Springs Medical Center at 417-876-2118 from the parking lot before entering if you or your child has any of the following symptoms: a high fever, cough, runny nose, red or watery eyes, or a rash.

Calling ahead helps us take precautions to protect other patients and staff. We appreciate your attention to this important message. Thank you for helping keep our community safe.

There has been a laboratory-confirmed case of measles in Cedar County. We have vaccine available for those who are interested.

Saturday May 24th we will not have a provider available at the clinic. The following clinics will be open for your needs:

Dallas Co Family Medical 9am-8pm
Willard Medical Center 9am-8pm

We will resume regular clinic hours Sunday May 25th 8am-8pm. We will also be open for your needs on Monday May 26th Memorial Day 8am-8pm.
