Billy “Bill” David Barksdale, 77, of Mt. Holly, Arkansas, passed away on November 16, 2025. He was born on November 19, 1947, to Aubrey and Dorothy Griffith Barksdale, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Barksdale, and his sister, Sue Bailey.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam War veteran. His service was a lifelong source of pride—for him and for those who loved him. He carried the strength, humor, and resilience of a Marine throughout his life, often sharing a lighthearted joke at the expense of the other branches of the military.

He is survived by his children, Donny Barksdale of Benton and Amber Daugherty (Kevin) of Ward; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A small graveside service will be held in his honor at Mt. Holly Cemetery in Mount Holly, Arkansas, on December 6 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Bill’s favorite nephew, Raymond Bailey—a detail that would undoubtedly bring a smile to Bill’s face, as he was always quick with a joke about who the “favorite” really was.

Though we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit sails on—forever at peace, forever a Marine.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Union County Animal Protection Society (UCAPS) or to a local food bank.

We are pleased to announce that Denise Barrett will be joining our team as manager. Denise began her career in 2003 when Perry and Michelle Eddleman first opened Perry's Funeral Chapels. She spent ten years working alongside Perry Eddleman, Jerry Sandifer, and Bryant Bolding. The Eddleman family has owned and operated Perry's for over twenty-two years and we are proud to continue the legacy of serving families as our own.

Today we took a moment of pause to remember the life and legacy of President Jimmy Carter.
At Perry’s we honor the heroes and legends of the small town variety.

“In everything there is a season and a time and purpose for everything under heaven”
-Ecclesiastes 3:1

2024 was a record breaking year for Perry’s. We were blessed to have served more families in 2024 than any other year in 21 years. Our reach is growing, and our consistency is attracting attention!

We don’t say this simply to boast. We honestly believe so strongly in the Perry’s difference that we are concerned for people who select another funeral home. In our core we know that our friends and neighbors will not receive the very best somewhere else.

When more families choose Perry’s it means that we have the honor to tell your story like it deserves to be told. When more families choose Perry’s it means that people are supporting local institutions, instead of corporations held by foreign shareholders. When more families choose Perry’s it means people are responding to our commitment to handcrafted arrangements instead of cookie cutter packages. When more families choose Perry’s it means people identify with our belief in value focused care, instead of arbitrarily raising prices for Wall Street.

We love our community!
