Not by willpower but by surrender!!
Hey dear ones,
I pray you’re all doing well and staying faithful—not just to the health work we’re doing in our bodies, but to the deeper work God is doing in our hearts. I know many of us are focused on our midsections—trying to shed those extra inches—and I love that we’re in this together. But today I want to talk about something even more central than our core muscles: our hearts.
As I turned 40 this year, the Lord lovingly opened my eyes to something I hadn’t fully seen before—covert pride. You know, the kind that hides beneath good intentions and accomplishments. I was convicted. And I was reminded of 1 Peter where it says, “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Whew.
I’ve been meditating on that verse, and it’s been reshaping me. It’s hard sometimes to truly walk in humility—to let go of striving, controlling outcomes, or trying to prove ourselves. But that’s not where strength lies. Strength comes from surrender. It’s in depending fully on God’s grace and not our own effort.
Last night, another verse gripped my heart: “It is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13) And that became my prayer.
Sis, in the middle of everything going on—politically, economically, relationally, and even with our health—it’s easy to get overwhelmed. But what if we paused today and asked God not just for results, but for the will to please Him? For the desire to obey? For the strength to be consistent in our health and our habits—not by willpower, but through His power?
Let that be our prayer this week:
“Lord, give me the will to honor You with my body. Help me surrender my own strength and rely on Yours. Work in me both the desire and the discipline to do what pleases You.”
We’re not in this alone. We’re in this with each other—and most importantly, with the God who strengthens the humble.
Let’s walk in grace today.
With love and conviction,
Naomi
