Not by willpower but by surrender!!

Hey dear ones,

I pray you’re all doing well and staying faithful—not just to the health work we’re doing in our bodies, but to the deeper work God is doing in our hearts. I know many of us are focused on our midsections—trying to shed those extra inches—and I love that we’re in this together. But today I want to talk about something even more central than our core muscles: our hearts.

As I turned 40 this year, the Lord lovingly opened my eyes to something I hadn’t fully seen before—covert pride. You know, the kind that hides beneath good intentions and accomplishments. I was convicted. And I was reminded of 1 Peter where it says, “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Whew.

I’ve been meditating on that verse, and it’s been reshaping me. It’s hard sometimes to truly walk in humility—to let go of striving, controlling outcomes, or trying to prove ourselves. But that’s not where strength lies. Strength comes from surrender. It’s in depending fully on God’s grace and not our own effort.

Last night, another verse gripped my heart: “It is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13) And that became my prayer.

Sis, in the middle of everything going on—politically, economically, relationally, and even with our health—it’s easy to get overwhelmed. But what if we paused today and asked God not just for results, but for the will to please Him? For the desire to obey? For the strength to be consistent in our health and our habits—not by willpower, but through His power?

Let that be our prayer this week:
“Lord, give me the will to honor You with my body. Help me surrender my own strength and rely on Yours. Work in me both the desire and the discipline to do what pleases You.”

We’re not in this alone. We’re in this with each other—and most importantly, with the God who strengthens the humble.

Let’s walk in grace today.

With love and conviction,
Naomi

WEIGHT LOSS! WEIGHT LOSS! WEIGHT LOSS!

You probably know someone, if not you, who is struggling with either cycles of unmanageable weight, or fad diets or even dealing with lifestyle diseases like diabetes. Worse still, struggling with guilt and shame related to food and body image!

You could be living with pre-diabetes or high blood pressure without any symptoms yet and you have struggled with weight for a time

I will give you 3 things you can do, practical steps you can start even now without giving a coin to anyone and you can begin to manage your weight

1. Get enough sleep. Ditch that screen time an hour or two before bed. Too much blue light before bed is known to increase the time it gets you to gain sleep. When you don’t get enough rest, your body slows down from generating new cells and this slows down your metabolism

2. Make sure you are taking adequate water. Your body loses over 2L of water a day as part of normal body processes through sweat and urine. To maintain a good balance, you need to at least replace the lost amount and give the body more to be able to function normally. Remember that your body is more than 60% water

3. Set a schedule for your meals. When you starve your body, your body will hold on to calories and it will be hard to lose weight and if you starve too much, you will lose but immediately you eat again, all the weight comes back. If you eat all the time, your body will overproduce insulin and eventually your body will be insensitive to it and your sugars will be high, your appetite will increase, and you will keep gaining weight

Out of the three: consider that your worth is more your size, body type, food you eat or whatever is happening in and around you. Your worth was determined way before you were even born and nothing can take that away from you. So ditch the shame!!!
