Alongside members of the Hunt School of Dental Medicine and the Texas Tech Dental Oral Health Clinic, our community celebrated the 3rd annual Lighting Campus for Hope at Texas Tech Health El Paso.
Together, we honored this year’s campus accomplishments, highlighted the groundbreaking of the future Fox Cancer Center, and offered heartfelt appreciation to our cancer warriors for their inspiring stories and to our Borderplex residents for their unwavering support. Most importantly, we raised nearly $125,000 for patients to receive lifesaving cancer screenings.
That shared commitment to community well-being extends to oral cancer, where dentists play a vital role in early detection and prevention. Each year, more than 54,000 Americans are diagnosed with oral cancer, and many of those cases are first identified in a dental office. Dentists serve as the first line of defense, recognizing early warning signs during routine checkups, often before symptoms appear.
With the Fox Cancer Center now under construction just one block from the Texas Tech Dental Oral Health Clinic, their proximity and shared mission will help ensure continuity of care. As part of the same health system, teams can communicate more easily, coordinate referrals, and create a more seamless patient experience, particularly for patients managing the oral health effects that often accompany cancer treatment.
Growing these connections reflects what Lighting Campus for Hope is all about: bringing our community together to strengthen patient care and save lives. Thank you to everyone who joined us this year’s celebration. Your support brightens the path toward better health for all.
