In the company of faculty, staff, and classmates, our recent matching recognition event celebrated seventeen graduates heading into prestigious residencies and military service across the country. It was a moment to honor the clinical excellence and academic rigor that define the Class of 2026.

As these graduates prepare to represent the Hunt School of Dental Medicine from the Pacific Northwest to New York to Puerto Rico, they carry the spirit of our Borderplex community with them. The future of dentistry is in good hands!

🦷 From the Hunt School of Dental Medicine in El Paso to across the nation and beyond ✨"

Seventeen students from the Class of 2026 are officially taking the next step in their dental journey, matching into prestigious residency programs nationwide. From Texas to Washington, and New York to Puerto Rico, every one of our graduates are leaving their mark far beyond Texas Tech Health El Paso, whether through specialized residency training or beginning their careers in general practice.

We’re also honored to recognize three graduates who will continue their commitment to service as dentists in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army. 🎖️

True to their motto, “A Class Second to None,” the Class of 2026 is just getting started. Join us in celebrating these incredible soon-to-be DMDs! 🎉🎓

Access to care can change everything.
Thanks to a generous $20,000 grant from the WellMed Charitable Foundation, the Hunt School of Dental Medicine and the Texas Tech Dental Oral Health Clinic are expanding oral health services for adults 60+ in our community.

This partnership provides exams, cleanings, and treatment planning-including possible dentures, while restoring something just as important: peace of mind, dignity, and a trusted place for care.

The grant also gives our future DMDs valuable, hands-on experience serving older adults, an important part of our Borderplex community that we’re proud to support and see thrive.

Soft launch into dental school life 🦷✨
Pre-Dental Weekend at the Hunt School of Dental Medicine welcomed 60+ aspiring dental students for an inside look at life in dental school, from hands-on simulation labs and digital dentistry to mock interviews, admissions guidance and conversations with current students.

Participants also heard from Founding Dean Dr. Richard Black, gaining insight into the school’s vision and future.

Thank you to our student organizations, faculty and the Office of Admissions for making this experience possible and investing in the next generation of dentists.

Texas Tech University System Chancellor Brandon Creighton visited Texas Tech Health El Paso last week. He met with Hunt School of Dental Medicine Founding Dean Dr. Richard Black to discuss the school’s future and connected with dental students about their experiences and plans after graduation.

Students had one friendly request for Chancellor Creighton before he left: make an appointment at the Texas Tech Dental Oral Health Clinic on his follow-up trip to El Paso. After all, what dental student wouldn’t want the chance to show off their clinical abilities to the leader of the Texas Tech University System?🦷😄

Members heard the latest from Dean Richard Black on campus initiatives, progress at the Texas Tech Dental Oral Health Clinic, and exciting student milestones. Highlights included updates on the Class of 2026 and their match outcomes, new outreach efforts connecting more patients with care while enhancing student learning, and early insights on the incoming Class of 2030.

Impressions Day 2026 🦷✨
The Hunt School of Dental Medicine in partnership with SNDA, welcomed prospective dental students for an unforgettable day of hands-on learning and mentorship.

Participants from across the region donned their first white coats for professional headshots, toured our school and the Texas Tech Dental Oral Health Clinic, and practiced mock interviews while exploring the path to dental school.

A day to remember as we continue inspiring the next generation of dentists! 💙

More than 100 prospective students and their families joined us for the Hunt School of Dental Medicine Open House 🦷

Guests explored our campus, toured our state-of-the-art Dental Simulation Clinic, visited the Oral Health Clinic, and connected with our admissions team to learn what it takes to become a competitive applicant.

It was an exciting day connecting with future dental professionals, we look forward to welcoming the next generation of DMDs to our beautiful Texas Tech Health El Paso campus.
