Happy Chocolate Cake Day!
Did You Know: The word chocolate comes from the Aztec word xocotal, meaning "bitter water".
How to Celebrate: With lots of chocolate cake, of course. Bake chocolate cake and bring it with you to work or school (if your parents let you) and celebrate this dessert with your co-workers and friends.

¡Feliz día del pastel de chocolate!
¿Sabías que: la palabra chocolate proviene del vocablo azteca xocotal, que significa "agua amarga"?
Cómo celebrar: con mucho pastel de chocolate, por supuesto. Hornea un pastel de chocolate y llévalo contigo al trabajo o a la escuela (si tus padres te lo permiten) y celebra este postre con tus compañeros de trabajo y amigos.

Happy Popcorn Day!
Did You Know: Popcorn has a VERY long history. Historians believe that corn with kernels that could be popped (popcorn), were cultivated are far back as 5,000 B.C.E. in Mexico. Archologists found evidence of the first popcorn maker in Peru, dating back to 400 C.E. Popcorn is also the official snack food of Illinois.
How to Celebrate: Add popcorn to all your meals today. Start the day with popcorn cereal. Sprinkle some popcorn on your lunch salad instead of croutons. Replace Rice Krispies in Rice Krispie treats with popcorn to make sweet treats for your evening snack. Use crushed popcorn instead of breadcrumbs to coat your breadcrumbed chicken breast for dinner. And end the day with some ice cream topped with chocolate and caramel popcorn.

¿Sabías que las palomitas tienen una historia MUY larga? Los historiadores creen que el maíz con granos que se podían hacer estallar (palomitas) se cultivaba desde el año 5000 a.C. en México. Los arqueólogos encontraron evidencia de la primera máquina para hacer palomitas de maíz en Perú, que data del año 400 d.C. Las palomitas de maíz también son el refrigerio oficial de Illinois.
