Dr. Estrada is originally from El Paso, Texas and studied at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), obtaining degree in Microbiology and Chemistry. He went on to work for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as an Industrial Hygienist before returning to UTEP to pursue and complete a doctorate in physical therapy. His work and contribution as a physical therapy student was honored by the UTEP Doctor of Physical Therapy program with the Outstanding Leadership Award, honored by the Greater El Paso District (GEPD) with the Most Valuable Physical Therapy Student Award, and honored by the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) with the Rex Nutt Outstanding Physical Therapy Student Award.
Since graduating with his doctorate in physical therapy, Dr. Estrada was accepted and has completed the highly esteemed and competitive Harris Health System, Clinical Orthopaedic Residency program located in Houston, TX. Dr. Estrada is currently one of the few local physical therapists in El Paso who are board certified in orthopedics and currently sits as a board-certified orthopedic specialist (OCS). This honor and designation bestowed upon Dr. Estrada exemplifies his ability to evaluate and treat orthopedic and sport injuries as a clinical expert.
Dr. Estrada has continued to advance and promote the physical therapy profession by remaining active in the TPTA and American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Dr. Estrada has been interested in leadership and leadership roles in physical therapy and has been an active member of the GEPD of the TPTA. Dr. Estrada has served as an advisory member to Senator Jose Rodriguez’s Health Care Advisory Committee and has implemented an El Paso community initiative “Move Right” campaign geared toward ensuring caregiver and professional transfer safety training. As an active member of the GEPD, he has implemented the “Agent of Change” program bringing physical therapy students and physical therapists together in reaching out to local representatives in topics of community and professional advancement.
Current interests include the performing arts, the orthopedic and sport athlete, triathlon athletes, and cyclists. Dr. Estrada is married to his lovely wife. Together for 10+ years, they have a daughter, enjoy play time with their two dogs, Huggy Bear and Besos, attending the El Paso performing arts, and discovering all the fabulous restaurants in El Paso.
