🔹 How to treat it?
Fever is a symptom, not a sickness. In most cases, it’s a healthy response to infection. But if your child is under 1 month or seems seriously unwell, always seek medical care right away.
• Use paracetamol (or ibuprofen if older than 6 months) only if your child is uncomfortable — not just to lower the number.
• Keep them hydrated, lightly dressed, and let them rest.
• It’s okay if they want to play — that’s usually a good sign!
• If your child is well-appearing, eating, drinking, and has a low-grade fever (100–101°F), you may not need to visit the pediatrician right away.
• It’s okay to wait and observe — many viruses resolve on their own, and new symptoms may help guide treatment.
• Most fevers are caused by viral infections, which do not need antibiotics.
• Seeing your pediatrician is often about making sure there’s not a bacterial infection — but most of the time, you’ll leave with just supportive care like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
• Treat your child, not just the number. If they’re uncomfortable, fever medicine can help them rest and feel better.
